binhoker668 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 My mate's boat is just out of shot in one of your pics. Redhill's a great wee spot like! (His is the huge Dutch barge with the wheelhouse).
Justin Case Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Thread resurrection Last night I was watching a programme on Quest where they were 'weighing-in' a care home and a motorway bridge. Interesting stuff but I was surprised when they visited a yard that was breaking up boats (in Portsmouth? ), mainly fibreglass ones. Why? I know that boats can suffer from osmosis, bit I believe it can be repaired bodged quite easily and engines, drives, navigation gear are fairly simple and straightforward to fix, so it can't be the complex electronic problems that affect modern cars. They looked good projects, so why were they crushed and dumped in a skip rather than sold on? There are a few shiteboaters here, so I would be interested to know.
Cheggers Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Sadly there are more projects than folks willing to take them on, and there's no such thing as free storage. In happier news, mine was saved from a similar fate and look at her now (taken today in Lymington) Sent from my SM-A310F using Tapatalk Aston Martin, puddlethumper, RayMK and 1 other 4
