Hi peoples . The f-in-laws tdciruns sweet until you go to accelerate from 60ish , no power , gauges go to 0, orange light flashes , not sure which one .

If you turn it off , turn it on again it seems to run fine again , I've only been in it once when it did it , scary enough !

Any ideas please

Glow plug light flashing?

Could be any number of things, id be guessing. Does it do it when you accelerate hard?

Could be many things. Plug it in and see what clues are there.

Isn't there something common fault and wierd about focus mk1 dashes. Sure I've seen ScaryOldCortina mention something.

We had one of these with the same problem. The flashing glow plug light is a common problem with this car and engine. It could be almost anything and it's extremely dangerous.

Possible culprits are: injector pump, in tank fuel pump, wiring loom, cam shaft position sensor (easy to change, found on rocker cover), the throttle pedal (again easy to change, three bolts and a multi plug), and dash cluster.

We had one which would cut out entirely at random. Ours turned out to be mainly due to be fuel pressure sensor. It's easy to change and the old one fills with grit. Even after that the problem would come back once a month or so. It seemed that even the weather affected it. For some reason rain could trigger the fault. I never truly got to the bottom of the issue. I would get rid of the thing. Nice to drive, but they try and kill you but cutting out randomly.

Borrow the dash from a known good one . Petrol or diesel it doesn't matter apart from incorrect redline .

Sisters mk1 focus just bern broken for spares because of same issue. You may spend more finding nature of fault than car is worth.

Glow plug light flashing and similar symptoms was cam sensor on mine. £5 and 5 mins to fit, gotta be worth s try.

Could be the cam sensor but you could spend a fortune chasing this fault. I'd say get it fault code read then go from there. I wouldn't start chucking money at it as you can buy one that runs just fine for £4-600.
