Station Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I remember reading Practical Car Mags diesel Rolls Royce did it, completely destroyed the engine and caught fire in a motorway car park. Terrifying! A co2 fire extinguisher works as well, I keep one in my BMW after I changed th turbo in case.
drum Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Don't diesels have a stop solenoid you can use to halt a runaway? On my Seat it was just a plunger you could push down.If you mean the fuel stop solenoid, I don't think that will help as it will be running on engine oil from the sump instead of diesel. At least that's how I understand it. holbeck and Lacquer Peel 2
Pillock Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 I thought it was a butterfly in the inlet?Actually thinking about it it was called an anti-shudder or something, worked with the fuel stop to cut the engine gently. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
theorganist Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 Would there be any interest in a riffle? There seems to be a few atm! If not it will have to be ebay. I have decided I only need two cars as I don't do enough miles for three and I could do with this gone ASAP. oman5 1
theorganist Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 Now on Gumtree, however if you are a member here you can have it for £400. I have decided it is pointless me having two cars so not really looking for a PX unless you want to take the Maestro and the Renault 5?!

Sent from my SM-G935F using TapatalkAs others have said, once it has started running on engine oil, the stop solenoid just doesn't come into play. In effect, you've bypassed that part of the fuel system. Disco TD5s do it when fuel leaks into the sump, pushing the oil level up to sufficient levels that it gets sucked into the turbo.
Pillock Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Yeah, but I'm sure the anti shudder was on the air inlet, not fuel. Separate from the fuel stop solenoid, it stops the car from spluttering to a halt. I know depressing the plunger when it was running would stall the engine Edit: here it is....
kbonney88 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I do like Maestro's.. and would be tempted - but no more room at the Inn at the moment..
sierraman Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Me and the wife just sat down and cried, wondering what it was we'd done wrong. Liking this. It's a beast! Fat_Pirate, AlabamaShrimp, Pillock and 1 other 4

plasticvandan Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 What causes the clatter, and can it be/does ITF need fixing? What mpgs can I expect? Your not too far away...
theorganist Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 What causes the clatter, and can it be/does ITF need fixing? What mpgs can I expect? Your not too far away...Well whWell when I say clatter I mean the term generically. It is quite a noisy engine but more so when cold. From my memories of my previous one and from comments made this seems to be normal. It literally lasts seconds and is fine when warmed up. It is not particularly noisy when cruising. I will try and take a video tomorrow of it. I haven't really done any calculations as I have driven it very little (why I need to go down to two cars) but you should get MPG in the 50. Peter
