Shitely Request-S'oton to London

Recommended Posts

Posted

I purchased a pair of motorcycle wheels from Dibden Purlieu, Southampton, and my "mate" down there agreed to collect them for me. Well, you can guess that he didn't.

If anyone is down that way, could they pick them up for me. Need them to come to London/Essex but there is no hurry for them. The seller doesn't want to pack them for courier collection.

Beer tokens will be given.

Thanks

How big are they?   If they will go in a Minor or 190E and it can wait until Monday (I am working all weekend although a Sunday PM slot may be possible) then be pleased to secure them for you and hold them for a Shiter relay.     Let me know....

I'm just off J3 of the m3 and they'll be safe here if they can come this far.

That's great-I'm in no great hurry for them (although I don't want to miss out on them).

A Shiter Relay with many handovers could be on the cards then.

Thanks to Mercrocker who collected the two wheels from the sellerseller (and paid for them before taking any money from me-what a gent), they are ready for their onward journey to London or Essex.

Anyone going through Southampton and on towards London somewhere?

Thanks all

Anyone? Poor Mercrocker stuck with my wheels. Will have to sort out a faceless courier to ollect them from him otherwise which will put him to more trouble on my behalf.......

Let down by a colleague, so last request before I drive down to Mercrocker's to collect them from him.

So is anyone available to bring them further north east towards London & Essex? Thanks all.

Skizzer and I will be down Portsmouth way on Friday, probably.  Any good?  We will be heading back to Oxon and Wales, but we do go to London, in my case sometimes by car, quite often (Skiz usually gets the train to London, AFAIK, as do I , but I drive in every now and then).

The idea of a relay that goes way out of the way before the wheels end up in London circa 2024 AD has a certain AS amusement value, doncha think?

Would the wheels fit in the hatchback area of an SD1?  They would obvs fit in the loadspace of a Mk2 Granada Estate.

NB, I speak only for mysef.  Skizzer may say FTFAGOS when he hears of a possible diversion from our Primary Mission Objective to collect bike wheels, as he will have a long drive home ahead of him, but I float the idea just in case.

The wheels will fit between front and rear seats in a Minor.    Sadly I have no more time off this week so any exchange will have to take place eves/weekend but I am not averse to driving them somewhere close by if it helps.....

I'm in Petersfield during the day and hayling island during the evening/night. Which is sort of vaguely between Southampton and London. If you get lost.

Hi Mercrocker, Skizzer and I will be collecting a car at danthecapriman's place in Waterlooville at about 3pm ish on Friday, so this is probably no good.  We are trying to avoid the M27 if possible.  Hope someone else can help!

Where do they need to get to in Essex?

I'm between Braintree and Witham, and work near the Tower of London most days. Anywhere north of the Thames or not to far south ( I get a nose bleed if I wander south of the river).

Jerzy - how soon do you need them? I have family near Ipswich and live not far from Mercrocker so could pick them up from Mercrocker and drop them off with you, but I won't be up in Suffolk for a little while...

No particular hurry Stanky (unless Merc rocker wants them out of his way). These are to be painted and then swapped for the badly painted wheels currently on the bike. I've three other bike projects ahead of the (ex Wuvvum) Cagiva Planet so that's the next few weekends spoken for..................

I may be in Gosport Saturday afternoon if that works for Stanky.....

You're all proper gents.

Working near Braintree at the moment but Dibden Purlieu isn't near me or somewhere I would pass by.

Dibden Purlieu isn't on anybody's route unless you intend on jumping into the sea......However, they have begun their marathon journey and are now with me close to J2, M27.    If anybody can assist Jerzy he has my mobile number.

Sorry forgot about this - Mercrocker, PM me your number and I'll arrange picking them up from you soon-ish.

Jerzy, I can get them to Twickenham in SW London very easily and quite soon if thats any good? I could even (within reason) get them to right by Borough Market in town? Getting them to Suffolk will take a little longer as i don't plan on being up there for a couple of months.

PM me so i don't forget
