That many of the young ladies I work with are looking like they have just left the Palace night club on a 1986 evening... Are 80's clothes making a comeback? If so then Im serioulsy hot stuff! Woot where is my Gucci copy shell suit?

You're damn right. You should see the laydeez in the office here - the 80's are back as the advert says. Bloody good if they look like that!

It's the kids too.My local Spar is the hangout for all the kids in the evening, until they turn that high-pitched thing on to move them all on. Anyway, the amount of fluroescent socks and leg-warmers on display is hilarious. They're trading them too so they've got odd pairs.mind you, my neighbour's lass just left the house (she drives her own car, before you all start calling the police...) dressed in ankle-length tights, leg warmers, a vest top and hotpants. BRING ON THE 80'S!! Bet she draws the line at trading her Focus in for a Maestro HLE though.*wanders off singing theme tune to Fame

The 80's look is sooo in at the moment, I've got my 30th birthday party all booked up for 17th April next year (yes today is my 29th) and the theme is 80's dress and music.Looking forwards to all the girls in there fluorescent leg warmers and hot pants!Though my mum wouldn't have to dress up, She will still be wearing her pink blouse with shoulder pads, She did say she'd have a new perm though...

I'm sat here at the moment in a brown two-piece suit with a black shirt and an absolutely spectacular tie (varying brown/gold stripes), plus a nice pair of brown loafers.I've had a similar look for quite a few years now and it has never really been a fashion thing, more like "Oh God, I need to buy another suit for work, ha ha ha look at that beige/brown/grey one, I'm having that, now I look like some kind of stuffy executive from the 1980s".Funny how since winter I've gradually turned from an unfashionable loser into the height of "ironic cool". Think I'll stick my Stanza up for sale at £4995 whilst this 80s appeal is still around, "NOT 1980S DRIFT FWD WANG CHUNG".

I remember going to an 80's party in roughly 2001. It was hilarious as everyone was wearing these horrid clothes and mocking each other on how silly they looked. 8 years later ...Have to admit, I am feeling a bit nostalgic about it seeing all these crappy clothes again. Can you imagine the impending 90's flashbacks? The decade where -nothing happened-.

We had a 80s themed housewarming last year and it was great! Everyone made an effort, there were kwality copies of CAR, Viz, Vogue etc on the coffee tables and we all got sozzled on red wine, champers and Martinis :D We got a Mini Mayfair not long back and I've got the serious horn for some sort of cool eighties wagon now. I like the fact my Land Rovers don't look any different to what they could have done 25 years ago, I have no interest (can't afford it anyway) to get them back to rivet counter original factory fresh condition.

And my Global Hypercolor T-shirt!

I remember my mate had one of them and it stopped working, except the area around the armpits went a different colour.

I think if you did that, you'd be turfed out of this place! Land Rovers are NOT meant to be shiny! I'm surprised they don't employ someone at Lode Lane to kick the doors in and rub mud all over them.

Now if only I kept all my clothing from 1984-86 I'd be fashionable now  1984 was drainpipe white jeans, white socks, slip on grey shoes and a pringle jumper, by '86 a grey suit with white flecks, sleeves rolled up, lurid coloured shirt usually stripped, and grey loafers, top quality 8) :shock:Ah, even if I had kept the clothing none of it would fit me now  still, GR8 4 Ebay retro old skool ashes to ashes Gene Hunt etc

80's can stay in the past please. All these little scrotes running about with haircuts that have just escaped from the Human League or A Flock of Seagulls, with their bloody scarves and worst of all their disgusting 'retro' trousers that look like they have sprayed them on. Totally gay. (Maybe I am just jealous, because I have legs like tree-trunks and a backside the size of belgium - can't even get into 'regular fit' trousers let alone these twatting drainpipes, and even if I did it would not be a pretty sight)

There is always a transitional period in fashion with every decade, for example I recall the early 90's being much like the end of the 80's in terms of fashion and style - it takes an major sub-culture, say like two-tone, grunge or punk to shake up the so called fashion design houses. Each 'new' thing has an element of retro fashion. But this fascination of the 80's is pretty much a carbon copy of the crap and sounds which came out in 1983. I can't believe that the yoof have chosen to persue Fame, Spandau Ballet, day-glow clothing and Bonnie Langford as key elements for 2009 fashion. Musically it started and ended quite good (2-tone, post punk, very early hip hop and new wave especially) then became prgressively worse, with bland american soul, boy bands, Hall and Oates, SAW and Simply red. There was a glimmer of hope towards the end of the decade, with the dance and indie stuff. Not that it matters because they'll only extract elements of the decade. The cars of the decade are of more interest, car styling over changed a huge amount between 1980 to 1983 - compare the Peugeot 104 to the 205, Fiat 127 to the Uno, Fords RWD and FWD Escort and the Datsun Cherry with the Nissan Micra. It all became a bit staid towards the end of the decade.....

Yes, it's a scary thought that the 90s will soon be 20 years on. For me one of the reasons this doesn't seem possible is that the cars still look relatively modern in relation to previous decades. However, in all this 80s revival it's good to know as I drive along in my B-reg car with Ultravox and The Human League emanating from the stereo that I am in fact at the forefront of fashion!Of course I pre-empted it all by a good few years and I must say it's taken them all a while to catch up to me..... :P I might even risk a pair of white socks for work on Monday
