Nothing at all wrong with them unlike today's cack.

It's better than a tata anyway...

Are these really Fords or are they something else with a Ford badge?

My friend traded his utter shit heap Defender in for an ex-fire service Ranger 4x4 double cab, it was still considered a fire service vehicle by the DVLA and benefitted from free road tax. Not sure it was worth £6k though, the diff started whining not long after he bought it and it had been badly resprayed from black to fire engine red, possibly with a fire hose.

These trucks seem simple enough and a bit more reliable and cheaper than an L200.

Mine was £550, it drives reasonably well but the suspension is quite stiff which makes it gr8 4 driftin' with the rear end being so light and having a limited slip diff. I tried a bit of off roading in mine in an old quarry, I didn't manage to get stuck at any point but felt that I probably would have if I stopped and then tried to get going again.

The ignition switch in mine is faulty so it's sometimes awkward trying to start it because I need to wiggle the key. I like mine but only really having a Tata Loadbeta to compare it to I can't really say how it measures up to similar pickups, it's better than the tata but that's not exactly difficult.

(like all pick ups i guess, but...)

If there is no weight on the back, and you're tramping through the lanes, at night, in the wet, it can be a bit, well, flighty,

Flighty sideways over a ditch through a wall and into a tree type flighty.

Cramped cab as well (again, like all full bed pick ups)

Bearing in mind that a single cab means van speed limits, as does it being 2WD.

If you want car speed limits on a pick up it has to be a dual purpose vehicle, so a twin cab and with 4WD.

Only my opinion, but with a pick up or any vehicle of 4x4 design, it seems a shame not to get one with the 4WD option.

Agree about pick ups being skittish, our twin cab Hilux had a limited slip rear diff and in normal RWD driving could be a bloody handful, well it was on the OE Pirellis it came with (flogged those bastards off with less than 1000 miles on them), but when i put a set of Vredestein Wintrac winter tyres on it the truck was entirely different, so i did a lot of research and tried a set fo General Grabber UHP (now superceeded) which stuck like the proverbial to a blanket, tyre choice is vital, drifting yo might be fun when you want to but is a PITA when it becomes the normal way to go round corners.

I sometimes drive a 4WD twin cab Ranger, its a lovely old school motor and i've got quite a soft spot for it, goes well too.

Mustardmitt i'd quite like to try a new Ranger with the 3.2 lump, big bugger though.

Depends on its previous treatment. If it's spent it's life in a muddy field lugging logs about it might well be shot. If it's been used by an engineering firm or something it might be ok.

I used a 2013 one in my previous job. Nobody else seemed to like it but I grew quite partial to it, or at least its ability to perform quite spectacular burnouts. The esp cut in (even when switched off) if you went properly sideways but it was still quite good fun. Decent load capacity as well, a tonne in the back didn't really upset it too much. It probably would've had an easier life moving logs around a field; engineering firms often move heavy stuff!

We had a pre-facelift at work. It was slow and bouncy and skittish when empty in the back, especially with a bit of rain on the ground. Surprisingly fun to bomb about in.

Getting it sideways is half the reason I want it. I've known the truck for 5 year. And it lugs a brickys tools about from job to job. Its got a truckman top on too.

Looking a bit tender round the front arches but reasonably solid underneath

A friend had one - well the Mazda twin anyway and without warning there was a huge bang, an oily cloud and a very definite FTP.

Turns out they are prone to crank failure and his had snapped.

I've bought and sold a few of these, all direct from the water board.  I've never had any comebacks or problems.  Recommended.
