Hi chaps,

Had a strange one with my car today. Parked it this morning at work after an hours commute - no ill effects on the commute at all. Came back to the car tonight to drive home and all seemed fine until I started the engine.

Engine cranked over at normal speed and started as per normal. But the car's clock had lost 2hrs 45 minutes during the day, the radio now wants a code & all trip computer information has been reset.

Radio and trip were working fine this morning! How can a car lose power for 2.75 hours then magically regain it? The drive home was fine and I checked battery terminals after getting home which appear to be tight...

I have the same problem in my audi, the clock will be fine for days on end then it will randomly just lose or gain a few hours while my back is turned - no issues with it losing radio presets though. the car battery is less than a year old, it never fails to start so what is going on, I don't know.

not as bad as the mazda though, I fitted a clock to the dash but never got round to wiring it up - it's been 11:30 for over four years now, but "even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day"

The xantia clock went forward by 4 minutes earlier I noticed, the 6pm news came on as it said 6.04.

Its happening...

Water getting in somewhere it shouldn't?

On my friend's Renault (surprise surprise) the clock would race through time every time it rained, like you were holding down the buttons to change it.

A couple of hours after it stopped raining it would stop cycling. No other ill effects observed.

Ah that's a good one...

I should probably check the ECU plenum too...

Its a Rover 75? If so it should be a monthly check this time of year :D

I do it weekly along with the fluids and tyres, but it's parked under moulting trees for 12 hours every day at the moment

I had the same thing happen on my Morris 10. The clock showed the same time as when I parked it up at Tescos and after considering the possibility I'd gone through some kind of time-warp at the check-out I found I'd actually forgotten to wind the bastard up.post-7547-0-51959900-1477563802_thumb.jpg
