I bet that's fun with a cross wind.

I bet that’s fun hitting a bit of uneven road in the outback 🤣

Took the DAF back to Channel Commercials near Canterbury yesterday, as it's come off hire. I was hoping that I was going to have it for a lot longer than I did, but so it goes:

It was a grand thing to work with. Overall, a better wagon in three months than my Actros ever was in three years.

I'm getting a 26t Volvo FM curtainsider on a 58-plate in the new year, as I'm doing a lot of long distance work now and the management consider it to be a more suitable vehicle. Watch this space :)

Talking of MAN, this is an OM-Bussing Cerbiatto (Deer) 20. As we all know MAN merged with Bussing, the Lion of Brunswick badge seen on MAN's is in fact Bussings logo.

I didn't know, until about 5 minutes ago, that some Italian OM's were badged as OM-Bussings in Germany, sans the lion.

This one is an OM-Bussing Leoncino (lion cub, appropriately).

Viberti used to make vans, buses, lorries and trailers. They are still with us, but only making trailers they are part of MENCI spa and are now called Acerbi (or Acerbi-Viberti).

It's just occurred to me that I'm not aware of any Citroen HGV's. The CCC says they made the Belphegor and K-series, but seemed to leave the market open for Savien/Renault. Any experts know why? (Sorry no prizes, it's just out of interest)

Something interesting about older MAN trucks is that they had the engine behind the cab and under the cargo area as seen under.  I think it was something that came from Bussing?

Yes, Bussing were well known for their flat diesel engines and MAN continued to use them for years after the take over, mainly for the rather conservative home market.
