Six-cylinder Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Please can I borrow a set of A Series Metro wheels for a month! Progress on my 1984 MG Metro has been gently progressing, new front panel, a couple of repair panels and the engine bay painted. The engine has been honed with new rings and the head converted to unleaded. It is with a garage who do not restore cars but fell into this one, it went in for a light re commissioning and then we found some rust and the engine locked and other faults due to standing so they wheel it in and out of there workshop when they have spare time. The car was on Metric wheels and the tyres were shredded when I bought it, so in advance of collecting it I purchased a set of peperpots. They need refurbishing and I want to do this but need to keep the car so it can be pushed around. Is anybody able to loan me a set of A series Metro wheels for a month or sell me a cheap set? I live in Buckingham MK18 and it needs to be somewhere in range of that, say 50 miles.
Noel Tidybeard Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 12 inch wheels off a post '85 mini should work as well *edit* come to think of it 10 mini wheels might fit on rear at least doesn't any of the "field cars" have similar pcd like the ferald or spitnasty?
Craig the Princess Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I'll ask a friend when I see him tomorrow. Do they need lethal (sorry legal) tyres or will anything that holds air do?
Craig the Princess Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 That said we are out of the 50 mile range but are going to the BL show in Milton Keynes next Sunday
M'coli Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 10" mini wheels won't fit over the front brakes I believe, and the 12" ones need the centre bore increased.
Six-cylinder Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 That said we are out of the 50 mile range but are going to the BL show in Milton Keynes next SundayThat would be great - thanks. Anything that holds air will be fine, just to keep the MG mobile while its own wheels are refurbished. The owner of the borrowed wheels can of course have them back afterwards! I am planning to go to the BL day as well, so that could work out well.
castros_bro Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I can do you FREE 3 Rostyle wheels without tyres as fitted to midgets (A35s), usually 54 of your Earth Pounds each new from MGOC for collection somewhere on Rutland Ave High Wycombe !! Six-cylinder 1
The Old Bloke Next Door Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I have 2 you can borrow, 1 inflated, 1 slow puncture, although I'm located about 80 miles away.
paulplom Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Unrelated but I have some mk1 turbo wheel nuts lying about somewhere. Very rare they say.
