No fecking room at travel lodge and premier inn. Fuck it.

No B&B locally? There is a farm on the High Road, going back to Wyses Road, not sure if they do lodgings. Hold on....... Montague Farm?

Yeah, I managed to lose Bub in traffic, then my phone's battery breathed its last mid-call as we were trying to find each other. So I ended up hanging around Junction 8 of the M1 for some time but still no Rover to be seen. Phone has been provided with new battery and contact reestablished with Bub, but in the stress of it all the BX appears to have blown a hole in its exhaust.

Not the smoothest collection ever, then.

Interesting mix of images there mate lol. At least you got some kip.

You need to provide us poor mortals with a full running report on the Rover and the A4 when the farm opens and you are travelling home :)

Pez/Diesel forcourt shot also compulsory. Don't forget a blast of air in the rear tyre!

Must say that the A4 felt very well screwed together generally. Ok, she is a bit cosmetically challenged here and there but still very, very solid.

Right a bit of a review on the 214. As you all know I needed to find rest last night after 170 mile drive from stoke. I went into Chelmsford to find food (2 quid to bloody park!) I can say the rover performed effortlessly down here. Very nippy and surprising amount of torque from a small 16v engine. Brakes have a squeak and heard a funny noise at around 65 mile an hour which went away after a while so could have been shite on the pads. The clutch is very smooth and easy to use in town. The steering is bloody heavy though especially when parking. Can't ever own a non pas motor again myself. I put 20 quid in at Watford gap services and took it to just over a quarter. I made it here after being stuck in traffic on m25 and surrounding areas and nipped up town last night and its just on the border with the red. Thinking about it if I'd have tried hard enough in Chelmsford last night I may have found a bed to sleep in but that's another story!

Not much diesel in the a4 so pez shot incoming at around 930

Hold on a Mo last night was mission accomplished and pics of Audi but this morning your back in a rover,

continuity is nearly as bad as a BBC 1 drama.

Mission Accomplished due to finally getting to the Audi. Slept in rover due to me being a dickhead not realising rover clock was anbhour slow!

If you want to stop here on the way back for a food and drink stop you are more than welcome mate.

Best collection thread ever.  Autoshite disaster movie with a hopefully happy ending.   :-D

Agreed - so utterly shite if it were made into a film it would go straight to DVD.

He has not.  Trying to establish exact location.  If anyone's got a suitable wheel, please stand by...

Got a spare but flat. I think ken on route but unsure. I'm severely browned off with this road trip. Don't misunderstand me though,I love the Audi and engined the trip but last night then a blow out has annoyed me somewhat!

Posted

Well I never. Its got a little flap to stop the annoying little bit of a gap you get between the sunvisors

Its a really nice motor. Needs some paint repairs and a stereo but apart from that its grand. Lower revving than the xantia too which is nice on motorways

Is that your second blow out this Week?! Very bad luck dude. Guess that's Brexit for you. All these European cars must be well pissed off with us pricks. Glad there was no drama though. Best of luck getting back on the road.
