Scrap man question

Will the scrapyard collect an incomplete car? That's to say missing stuff like ancillaries etc that won't run?

 

Second question is what parts are worth taking off a mk1 focus before junking it?

Presume they will collect, but you get sod all for it, or may have pay them to take it away ??

Yup they will, I have had a few donors collected over the years. They usually won't pay you for them through.

Mk1 focus is worth sod all to the scrapyard anyway, so any excuse you give them to not take it/not pay you will do for them.

When I scrapped my A4 I stripped the doors, wheels, lights etc off it and they took it away for free. If it was complete they were going to give me £130 if they collected it and £150 if I delivered it. That was about 3 years ago though when scrap prices were much higher so probably not much use now!

If I deliver it them towed to the scrap yard on an a frame then? It's got 4 good tyres on alloys, over my arse will I give them to the scrap man I'm keeping them, so hopefully chuck some fucked steels on it. I'm not expecting any money from them. I'd be happy for them to collect it.

why not ring the scrapyard and ask

A scrapyard recycling centre rather than a dismantler is more likely to take it, as they only box it up and send it off.

 

May have to pay them for them to collect it.

A frame it to a proper metal yard like EMR - remove the wheels before its weighed in (you'll need to anyway!) and collect your £5 or so

Your right, at least at somewhere like that they've got a business like attitude. A lot of the more traditional scrap yards are run by nut cases.

Rang up, they will collect it. But only if it's on wheels. So I've decided to swap the wheels that's on it with my old mans car - his are fucked.

Sold!! 2 Polish fellas came, had a look, explained to them it wanted starter fuel pump etc, he wanted to repair it. £140 so I'm not complaining. Kept the decent wheels to put some buggered ones on did a swap with Fatha Sierra.
