Aux belt help please!

Recommended Posts

So I'm sat here with my new aux belt on. I'm thinking it may be the wrong size, could anyone confirm?

I had to undo the alternator and push it right down to get the belt on, this with the tensioner at max undo. I've just got the new belt on, and the alternator back on its bracket but the belt is proper tight, dand this is before I've done the adjuster up.

Will the belt strech a bit when I fire her up, or should I put the old belt back on and get another one? New belt came from ebay...

Gonna have a rolly and a ponder, and help is appreciated!

I can just about get the 90 degree twist in the belt as per haynes, adjuster is pretty much all the way in...

Yep, sorry!

Ive fired her up, and it seems fine, but the adjuster is as backed off as it'll go.

Hopefully the old belt has been tightened up so much it was at the end of its travel, but I don't want it to shear something off cos it's too tight...

Both of the locking bolts were at the top, and are now at the bottom...

Just been up the road and it seems fine, ive kept the old belt and the tools to change it in the boot just incase I need to pop the old one on en route to work one day for any reason.

Apols for the random post, happy Sunday everyone!

I've just done 40 miles to the car boot and back, via the long way and it didn't break. Battery voltage seems to only be 13.9v though, but meh, it works!

Some psa cars have two tensioners believe it or not . One is the lollipop like you have and there can be another eccentric one above it
