Because I seem to have sold my Transit, and you lot rocketh mightily when it comes to finding cheap stuff on ye olde ebay.Right.... your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find me something that will amuse me for a few months. Something unlikely to grenade on the way home from whichever god-forsaken bit of the UK it's in, and that is comfy and quiet.Must have lots of grunt. Driving vans and diesels just isn't for me.So, I have a few suggestions as to stuff I like.I like big engines (2.0 is absolute minimum, and if it's a 2.0 it's got to be a turbo), I like V8s, flat fours, and V12s. I love leather and air-con and don't give a toss abot MPG (as long as it's better than a turbo Rangie). I like estates and LWB stuff (but can't abide stretched stuff, I have to deal with those at work) Like autos, but prefer manuals in good handling stuff.I don't like Jap stuff (unless it's made by Subaru), don't like FWD and can't abide FWD Vauxhalls. I don't like welding or doing head gaskets.£750ish to spend. Suggestions on a post card, or alternatively in this thread.Ta!

Slightly better idea -

Can't link picture for some reason!

Ewww, it's a narrow body one.

Now that might just do the job. Nice spottage. The Laguna and 406 V6s hadn't crept into my mind. Hmm. I wonder if there are any Xantia 3.0s about...

I'm waiting on a chap to get back to me about an old BMW 750i, but it's not an iL so it'd have to be cheeeeeap...

My Mazda is available. Any good?Short T&T, but for the right price I'll put a years ticket on it.

What Mazda?

Ooooh, Xantia V6. Drove an auto a couple of years ago. Quite capable of getting very illegal even in second gear! Very rapid and sound absolutely sublime. Just make sure it's had a cambelt change...

Hmm, ta for those, Regie.I had a 24v Scorpio Ultima last year (last of 'em, R reg 98 job, black headlights etc) paid £250 for it.I might look for another. That manual converted one would be good but he's gone to all the effort of fitting a manual box, but couldn't be bothered fixing the speedo... There's a lovely looking 3.0 24v Omega Elite Auto about to finish on ebay which would be perfect, but I don't have the cash until tomorrow so there's no way I'm going to bid. Just in case. Damn and blastation.

Difficult but hows about -

I know its Japanese but it is built in USA.

Not unless it's a lhd one it isn't. I whole heartedly recommend these, they are freaking GR8. Very un-fwd like to drive too. Mine has been cock on the past year i've owned it :)
They've pulled it anyway. Looked pretty cheap actually.

Suppose I should really take more notice of Jap stuff, but it just sends me to sleep.

It was pretty cheap :)

This is mine, it's a year earlier than that, and apart from the drop and RX7 wheels it's stock, the V6 is a crackingly flexible powerplant, not enormously powerful, but it's swift enough :)

Looks nice, that.

Its the 2.5 V6, and needs a couple of tail lights and the exhaust is blowing apparently.

If your interested I can see if it's still availiable.

Um, WTF is going on with the glovebox and passengers floor well? I wonder if it's still got headlining?

Hmm, tempting, and not too far away (clicks 'watch')
I had a 500 SEL and loved it, but it ended up too far gone to save :-(As the for 260E, I had one of those as well, I wouldn't have another, smooth enough, but the fuel consumption is worse than a 300 or 320E and they're nowhere near as quick. Yet another case of the middle engine in a range being the one to avoid...Hmm. That 420 might just be worth a punt if I don't find something more interesting. The SAABs might be a good idea as well - I can't find an Alfa 164 3.0 in good nick for sensible money, I've had three 164s and even though they're front wheel drive and a bit tempramental (geddit?) I'd have a nice one with no worries.

Looks like an extension lead, a tyre compressor and a golf trolley or summat.. Nice of him to clear it out for the photos..
