I still have the Synergie wheel trims if you want to collect them when you collect the Onion Bus.  All the expensive jobs have been done on the Xantia, it is a very well sorted car and should continue to be if looked after.  It'll take a lot of miles but abuse/neglect it at your peril.  Regular services and checks and keeping on top of any rust should see you get many years use out of it.  I'd still have it if I were a different shape and drove long distance more regularly like you do.
