Ghosty Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Fair enough, just that you mentioned you were using that Raleigh to get to work and I wondered if it was breakdown enforced bodgery. It'd help if I hadn't quit the job... need to find something that's a bit nearer by. It's been unanimously agreed so far that it wasn't worth the effort. It really wasn't fun getting there, let alone working. Our favourite Wetherspoons is hiring, don't you know.Less said the better anyway...
strangeangel Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Sorry to hear the job didn't work out Max. I got as far as the top of Holme Moss and it was snowing nicely, so given the forecast for later on and tomorrow I decided to sack it off. Next time, chaps. Ghosty 1
Junkman Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Well, I attended the meeting this time around with that motherless stupid pretentious toff Range Rover of mine.I had the pleasure to chauffeur several attendants on a short trip along country lanes giving me that desire to not stop, because there could be indigenious people there, you know the kind, with one eye in the middle of their foreheads. I was scared shitless.Again, contrary to common folklore, my Range Rover didn't put a foot wrong, it rather felt like a first class railway compartment, or rather, how I like to put it, a Wellness Spa on wheels. It even made it back to the Junkman towers. All this is in stark contrast to what I was told after I had bought it. Which is that it will grenade within a quater mile and a umpteen digit bill is in order to fix it. I call bullshit. All I have to do is live with 15.6 OMGMPG, which I happily do, because the Granadaland Greenhouse Gassers are determined to improve The Climate. Ghosty, Skizzer, chaseracer and 2 others 5
Dave_Q Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 I left slightly early just in case of SNOKAOS on the big hill, it was snowing up there but not really settled except some sad slush at the top. Good evening as usual, nice to get a passenger lap in the Range Rover of guaranteed* expensive doom, even though the doom level was disappointingly low on this occasion. I definitely can't afford it, but I'd still like to register an interest in purchasing it when the time comes. Junkman 1
Ghosty Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 "It doesn't snow in November". I, um, concur. I went over the moors today and it's been snowing a fair bit up there! Cycling home in the rain was fun*.

Ghosty Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Bump for those who might have forgotten, lest it end up be me and Dave standing around talking about folding bikes.
chaseracer Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I'll be there, even though I know nothing about folding bikes... alcyonecorporation and Ghosty 2

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 edit: this post was a trainwreck, ignore it please
bub2006 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'll have to leave van by main road. Touting for business! chaseracer 1
3VOM Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'm likely not going, Been off work last few days and not well.
Dave_Q Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 Howdy gang, Merry Jesus' birthday and/or pagan winter festival etc. Early Jan will be soon, do we want to meet on the 3rd or the 10th?
strangeangel Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 10th would work better for me I think.
Junkman Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Yeah, I might be back from rehab on the 10th, too. chaseracer and strangeangel 2
bub2006 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I don't give a shite what day but I'll go with the 10th as it seems a general consensus. I'll try and get down either way chaseracer 1
Dave_Q Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 10th it is then. Same shite time, same shite place. For 320touring that is - 7pm approx, Market car park Glossop, SK13 8AS or 8AR should get you to the general area. It's over the road from The Smithy Fold which is the Wetherspoons we tend to retire to for scran with varying degrees of urgency depending on the weather. strangeangel, Conrad D. strangeangel Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Excellent, that extra week after the New Year 100% means that the weather will be sufficiently clement for me to visit Glossop in the CJ with the hood in the reclined position. Dave_Q, chaseracer and Ghosty 3
320touring Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Just had a look at the route for this on my phone- Its sending me m66,m60,m67. Is that sensible at that time of night or am I better off bumbling along back roads? I'll be leaving the hotel about 6.15ish I reckon
Dave_Q Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Should be OK at that time but maybe check traffic on google before you leave as when the M60 is broken, its very broken. The problem with the back road plan is that its all a bit populationey - the best alternative route would probably be via Rochdale and Oldham and would be a good 30-40 mins longer on a 50 or so min journey. strangeangel 1
Ghosty Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 edit: they don't seem to consist of much yet. There's a chance this is the last meet I'll attend on two wheels... who knows.
