Mystery side window glass - identification needed! (Identified - does anyone want a window for a MK1 Fiat 127?)

When my parents bought this house, 18 years ago, the previous occupants left a load of tat behind. Stuffed behind an old wooden workbench was this rear side window. It's been here ever since, but the house is being sold and it's got to go, and I thought if it was a rarity I'd rather it went to someone who could use it than it being thrown in the skip that's waiting outside.

It's an OSR side window from a two-door car, curved along the bottom. It has marks that indicate it may once have had hinges and a handle stuck to it, so an opening rear window. Unlike most British cars, the glass isn't stamped Triplex, but instead it says "Temperbel Casalegno". So possibly Italian. Any ideas?

Of course, it's free to anyone who wants/can use it.

Fiat 127?

It's possible, based on this Fiat 127 GTS...

128 3P?

It has to be Fiat. Looking at some pictures I now reckon it's either 127 (Series 1) or 128 SL 1100. But the top looks more 127-ish, so I'm going with that.

The marks down the right hand vertical edge appear to correspond to where the hinges would be on 127 models that had opening side windows.   Likewise the round button on the left where the interior catch was positioned.   Reckon you are right, AD..

So, do we have any Series 1 127 owners on the forum who want this, or know any? Would be a huge shame to see it thrown away if it can be used.

MK1 Scrote.......maybe??

I thought that too when I saw it but not with the Italian marks. It would be Triplex or someone like that. Plus the Mk1 had only one central hole for the catch IIRC.

Have passed the thread details on to a pal in the Fiat Motor Club.

I guess that's me then! Yes I've got a couple of the little beasts, both mk2, and they are great!

I'm not sure it's mk1 127. It doesn't quite feel right & I've not seen that supplier on Fiat glass - and I've seen a lot of Fiat glass.....

It is probably Italian something, and the something can be found eventually. Where is the glass, as I'd happily have it & make sure it's rehomed if it's easy to get to me.

It's in Southend, Essex. Although if it is miles from you, I'm sure we'd be able to sort out some kind of relay. Obviously the car it came from is something pretty damn rare, so I'm not going to throw it away if I can help it! It's yours if you want it.

Many thanks - I hate to see bits thrown & someone will be grateful for it.

I'll try to find someone nearby to relay it - I know someone in Dartford, which looks close on the map. There's also an Autoshite meet at the hovercraft museum this weekend, so if anyone's going to that, we might be able to sort something.

Thanks for not binning it!

I can drop it off in Dartford next time I go to hell (Kent). If you PM me the address I can leave it at the side of the house or something if they aren't in.

I'm still waiting for the Fiat 127 I ordered new in 1969? to turn up. Strike at the factory or summat.

Thanks - I'll check that's ok with my mate & then pm to you - if I can work out how to do it. Struggling a bit replying via a phone!

Ordering in 1969 would cause a problem, as it wasn't launched until 1971. They probably assumed you were a nutter & threw away the order?
