TALBOT HORIZON FRONT WINGS

Recommended Posts

This is probably a long shot but if anyone in their travels happens to come across some Horizon front wings for sale or hears of any I would love to hear about them.

Mine are rotten and the nearside is getting to the point where patching it up will become unfeasible.

There is one on ebay for a million pounds which if it is still there in a month or two I may get. I am about to ask on the Talbot page on Facebook and have put a post on the Talbot forum.

Knowing how resourceful autoshiters are I though I would ask.

PS: if you come across some doors and a LS interior in beige I would too love to hear about them!

Many thanks.

Buy a Tagora coup... There'll be two in the boot - likely.

That's great, many thanks. I will get onto it.

I was going to suggest GRP wings but Honeybourne mouldings don't do them anymore. Might be worth ringing though as they used to make them. Properly prepped and fitted they are fine.

Option 2 is to get them off the car and carefully grit blast before welding in new sections.

Option 3 - Ebay.fr and 'Simca Horizon' may find something.

They're on Smith & Deakin's pricelist though.

Great suggestions, I have asked the guy up the road (who restores old Morris 8's) for his opinion, he thinks the wings (nearside especially) are too far gone to do any major repairs as a lot of them are filler as well as well as rust and metal. I will try ebay france and Leboncoin.

I have emailed the old car panels bloke..

The nearside is the worse side so that would be the priority side anyway.

So they are. This by far the best option. They're bolt on anyway (I'm sure they are) so with fettling and the correct GRP primer they'll look good. You need to plasterer the underside with thick underseal to prevent star cracks caused by stones flung up from the wheels.

Suddenly they are everywhere. I have been offered them on Facebook, found in scrapyards, someone in France has sent me a message offering me some.

Thanks for all your help guys.
