Doctor I have a problem - I keep buying cheap cars.....

Now I must have a very understanding wife as we dont have a big house/large garden, and I have not even got a driveway. Currently there are three cars stored in the garden, and four taxed/insured on the road. One of those being the wife's Focus, and that is the only car she will drive. so that's basically six cars for me... (and if you keep reading you will see this has increased to 7  :-D )

Well perusing gumtree as you do and I came across an advert for a 214Sei R8 in silver. Not the best description and only three photo's.  Some weird work completed on the arches for a rust repair (sprayed black??) but looked OK ish.

Was looking for a parts/spares Sei car so that I could swap the seats and fit the leather to my LPG'd SLI., Also a cheap and cheerful as my son keeps mentioning driving lessons. but put it in my favorites and forgot about it.

Yesterday found the same car on ebay, with the same initial photo with the black aches. However this time there were a load of extra photos including a very clean engine bay and some interior shots.

This peaked my interest so drove the forty odd miles to Derby yesterday whilst it was still light to check the car out. It's fantastic, drives lovely Nice leather, bit of a blow from the exhaust and a couple of other minor things but cant see it needing much for the MOT next month.

Seller has owned it virtually from new and is the second owner. Receipts everywhere including four new tyres in December. They almost still have the little rubber bobbles on. Also a brand new exhaust middle section (not yet fitted) and dizzy coil and rotor arm from his spares also included.

Made him a cheeky offer outside of e-bay which he accepted and agreed to collect it tonight.

Was going to do a collection thread but my phone has had a paddy and lost all the pics. Well I have the first one outside Sandwell and Dudley station but then non of the others, including the important PEZ shot at the Sainsburys.

Some pictures below of the new addition to the gadgetgricey garage.

Now just got to see if I can buy another two to get to the magic double digits of cars owned....

I think the wife would quite rightly have a major fit though.. :-D  :-D

That looks a great buy! Love the interior. Yes you've got it bad haven't you. I only have 3 cars and that sometimes seems too many. I need to try harder as there are some bargains out there at the moment.

Interesting tide mark work there! That engine bay detailing loudly says 'mental old giffer' to me. What was the PO like??

Really nice bloke. Test drive yesterday was about 25 mins as he wanted me to be happy with the car. Explained everything about the car. How he had the alloy throttle body fitted as he does not trust the plastic ones. Would never rev the car above 3k..... Also fitted an override for the rad fans in the car..

Was aware the exhaust was included, but was surprised when I also got the coil, dizzy , rotor arms and touch up paint for the car.

Only a minor thing, but every one of the HRW elements work which always makes me think the car has been looked after....

Just got to dig out a stereo tomorrow and the cars ready for daily use.

These are such a nice drive. But there's no way I could stay under 3000rpm with one!

Indeed. I love this odd mentality that some people have that revs are bad for an engine. When they had white metal bearings then yes. If anything, most engines benefit from a good Italian tune up every now and then.

I agree. First time I'd driven the car on the motorway, so started off at 55 on the inside lane.

By the time I was almost home and had confidence in the car, was keeping up with the flow of traffic and using the gears more. (read into that what you will :-D )

Only realised at work today that he's been busy with the keys as well.
