aldo135 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 How big a job and how much would it be to sort out the gear cable? Looks a pain to do yourself but my local rover specialist quoted £80 including 2nd hand cables
martyb Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 For further updates on the rover...watch this space, once I manage to get it home tomorrow. Any sort of history on it is good, as Alan was a bit stressed earlier on. gearoil, aldo135 and beko1987 3
martyb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Well, got it home and lost 1st and 2nd gear, further investigation has revealed........gearbox is knackered, rattly noise im guessing was the selector fork breaking up and floating about inside, so, now looking for gearbox beko1987 1

But the big, some would say crucial question is - has the Paul Walker sticker been removed and burnt with actual fire yet ? aldo135 and Lacquer Peel 2
aldo135 Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 Shit! Not good mate. Hope you can get it sorted
oldcars Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 SCB in Newbridge had about 6 in, think one was a diesel. Cant remember what the rest are.
aldo135 Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 Marty's daily is a free Zafira that had been lying 3 years. He seen my gumtree ad for this Rover, came out and found a list of faults and bought it anyway. So naturally I told him about this place! oldcars, martyb and skattrd 3
martyb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Gearbox out, replacement on its way next week. The concentric slave cylinder has been leaking for some time so not sure if its munched the clutch or not, so next job is to unbolt pressure plate and see what state its in aldo135 1
martyb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Once ive checked clutch out, the paul walker stickers will be coming off and will be killed with fire !!! aldo135, purplebargeken and gearoil 3
martyb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Can anyone tell me how long ago the clutch etc was done and if the thrust bearing was changed....cos its helluva noisy
CortinaDave Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Glad someone has taken this on. Amazes me how worthless they are. This one was sat outside J Noble's scrapyard in Kirkcaldy today having been freshly weighed in. It was truly the cleanest R75 I've clapped eyes on in a long time. Did an MOT history check and it turns out it was presented for MOT last week and failed on ABS light and one rear suspension arm. 65,000 miles only and probably 150 quid would have bought it another year on the road. The forklift went straight through the windows shortly after this pic. martyb 1
beko1987 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 do not like. Laseraligningfoofooflanges, Cavcraft and oldcars 3

martyb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Well....hopefully after zafira goes to its new home and rover is put into service, my next want is a mk5 cortina, always regret getting rid of my first car, almost 23 years ago now, man time flies aldo135 1
martyb Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Stickers off.....daft film off fogs and driving lamps, looks a million times better rml2345, Cavcraft, taxi paul and 1 other 4
martyb Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 ***UPDATE***I's alive!!! New gearbox in after the worlds longest 48 hour courier service that took 10 days. Turns out the original gearbox imploded cos there was not a lick of oil in it possibly been an oversight when clutch was done as its a right c#!t to get oil into. Drives very smooth. Next job is to sort the exhaust out cos it just sounds daft..... The Moog, Cavcraft, aldo135 and 2 others 5
fatharris Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 This news is fatharris approved. oldcars, Cavcraft and martyb 3

Interiors like Harvester pubs, and positively seeping with "long live our glorious past" bullshit. The car equivalent of flat roof pubs full of racist edl morons. I just don't like 75s - even though I'm told I'm should, I'd happily put a forklift through one. Yeah, they're nice to drive but so are a lot of other cars which can had for similar money.

Partridge Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Sorry. Just one of those cars I have an irrational hatred for. Like the Audi A3 and the Nissan Squashedquiche.
