Thanks to you all!

Does that Ducato JTD run on veg? I feel I owe you a couple drums!

And Laquer Peel, I still owe you 80L!

The bolts that hold the pump hub / oval plate aren't too long are they ? Catching the casting as it turns - or Bosch pump uses a different casting and the pulley hits it

^^ This.....I'll hold my hands up to making this mistake in the dim and distant.

No veg in my tank . I like my vehicles reliable 😄

Glad you got it fixed . Shit like that happens much more often than you would think . A real head scratcher .

Yup. You would laugh at some of the things that get trailered in for me to fix because of stuff like this. It's easier when you have it in front of you though, internet diagnosis is hard.

I disagree . I'm warm , my hands are clean and I can watch tv . Much easier than it is at work

Oh ok. I came home early today because of the onset of hypothermia. Fuck me the wind was bitter today. I meant that you are relying on someone else to tell you what they did, and about assuming they checked all the stuff you would check before shouting for help.

I actually had a good day today for a change . The last week has been hell - not one job went to plan . Boxster pas pipes - cunt ! Shogun rack - twat . Audi A4 1.8t oil leak - fuck nugget . And a yard rapidly filling with broken cars/ vans

Tell me about it! I'm managing to bat the broken cars back into the field quite quickly but the low price of scrap and other factors (no-one buying) have left me with cars all the way to the gate and one squatting on the recovery (and one under the one on the ramp....). And 3 taxed cars in the street at home (this is not making me popular - it's a terrace!)

I did a clutch on a shogun once, in a car park. Never again.

GRATE FRED

Had it all, a mystery, a hero struggling against the odds, a happy ending.

Nice one, well done on this Phil (clever bugger).  :D

I've just been up and witnessed this turning over nicely on the half-inch ratchet, so Will's well on his way. He needs it for work at the crack of dawn, so he'll hopefully have it bled though and running shortly.

Jap 4wd stuff (hilux excluded) is among the worst stuff I have to work on

Why is that? I quite fancy a Terrano.

It continued to battle ne all night, timing it up right was the start of a myriad of other problems, brought on by trying to do an un-researched injection pump swap, poor tools and tiredness.

Finally gave up tinkering at 4.30am, running well and sounding sweet. A little rough on tickover but almost silent at full chat. Will experiment more when I stick some veg in. Thanks for the help guys!

While they are pretty tough they are a twat to work on because every single bolt has at least one bracket on which doesn't line up when you go back together . They rust for fun and the poxy m6 bolts that seem to hold everything together WILL snap off . The terrano is actually one of the better ones - the real bastards are the l200 , shogun , navara and ranger .
