michael t Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi all, sadly my Fiesta seems destined for the bridge as it has failed its NCT (Irish MOT) due to galloping rot. I sort of expected this and I've been quoted around €4-500 to fix it which is most probably more than half the value of the car. This is for sale local to me and has a full years NCT and is taxed until August. Seems nice judging by the pics and the seller only wants €550 not the €625 on the ad. Any info or comments on these garlic load haulers would be much appreciated!! https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/peugeot-306-new-nct-taxed/11392911
forddeliveryboy Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 '4 new tyres' - just check the rear wheels are upright and that the front end isn't pointing all over the place as a result of a prang. Could be due for a cambelt soon, not a big job. Looks straight enough on the pics for the money. 306s are better than their replacement. michael t 1
artdjones Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I'd snap it up.Nice handling cars with a decent amount of room.Just check the back wheels are not leaning in at the top too much but its probably OK as it just passed NCT.Also check radiator overflow bottle for rusty gunge as head gasket sometimes goes on 1.4.Also make sure heater works and that the matrix isn't leaking into the left hand footwell as changing the matrix is a big job requiring the dash to come out.Otherwise the normal checks for any car. These are nice and restful to drive and a big step up from a Fiesta. michael t 1

Cavcraft Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Very useful cars, surprising how much load they can take. michael t 1
twosmoke300 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Oil leak from front drivers side of cyl head is head gasket but easy peasy to do michael t 1

320touring Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Make with an XUD one:) Could find one over here no probs, then wpic collection thread! Cavcraft 1
stripped fred Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Another vote for the ZX estate as a worthy alternative if you can find one.
dieselassist Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 /\ @320 touring -the road tax here lessens the desirability of the 1.9 XUD in all formats/body'clothing over here, unfortunately .... haven't seen a ZX of any sort on the road here in years...
