Haha every day I don't say that breaks records I think

Replaced the 2 faulty window modules with aftermarket equivalents. Don't have one touch on those windows but it was stupidly cheap

Hi Kiltox,

This Skoda you sold me hasn't missed a beat, I think you prob. sold your most reliable car :)

But MOT next week so might need a miracle but still going strong at the moment.

Buy his AUDI it sounds mint!

Like 1.5 months of ownership now? No FTP yet either. Not bad for a £200 car! ;)

Gets me to work daily and has some longer journeys ahead later this month (really must change the oil and try to tighten the steering rack bolts again!)

Posted

Just spent a whole TWENTY TWO POUNDS on a replacement Scenic drivers wing mirror in the hope it'll both fold and fix the external temperature sensor issue without me having to fuck around with it

More than 10% of the car's value on a mirror, jesus

Posted

Just had a partial FTP in the Scenic - half arsed attempt to turn over a couple of times whilst shuddering like a lack of fuel or spark. Check Airbag on the dash strangely.

Lifted the bonnet, had a look under the plastic engine cover to make sure the coils were connected and tried again, success

Not sure what's going on.... Battery? Dephaser? Cam sensor? Renault?

Posted

Airbag fault code is "low system voltage" so I think a new battery is in order (knew the current one was on its last legs anyway and have been thinking about changing it)

Coolant temperature sensor is acting a bit strangely - temperature goes down from 85 degrees towards 80 when I hold it at 2500rpm and it's not that the fan has cut in

Intermittent engine trouble code for pre cat o2 sensor short to 12v - it's switching fine in normal running though

Damn you!!

Wouldn't be surprised if the battery can't quite turn over the engine enough & power sagging causing the ECU to struggle to operate.

Especially given the airbag code.

Posted

Strangely it started up fine a few moments later though and now starts fine as well

I do think I'll replace the battery ASAP - well under 40 quid from GSF the next time they have a 42%+ code (so in about an hour's time). Will also check out the chassis grounds when I have the battery out

What is "Air Temperature" in the live data - air intake measured near the MAF?

What is "Air Temperature" in the live data - air intake measured near the MAF?

Think so. It is to measure density to manage the explosions

Posted

If engine ECU, then yeah I believe thats the intake air temp.

Outside temp can be read from the dashboard iirc.

Hmmm ok, thought 60 degrees was a bit high but might be wrong

Battery first then

Bought a new battery today. As usual with French cars I had a thousand different choices and the one currently in the car didn't match any of them :)

Hopefully got the right one, £42 from ECP.

Mirror arrived today too!

Time for a bit of surgery

Negative battery terminal is fucked. Will be fitting a shonky motor factor universal one to keep it going but I'll order a genuine Renault one too

Mirror was pretty easy to change and the replacement is in very good condition and is almost the same colour too!

Posted

Not sure yet. Universal battery terminal is no use without chopping up the wiring so ill need to wait for a proper Renault one

I see it passed - you've either been busy or have a very friendly garage!

Compressor kicks in now that the outside temperature sensor works!!

Gets very slightly colder but it's very weak

Haha it did. Had the welding done for cheeps. Seemed such a shame to bin it. Didn't need much else. Couple of chinese tyres etc

Fingers crossed I really like the old thing :)

Dug the Audi out from hibernation* to finally reattach its exhaust and decide what to do with it

Might be some Panda progress this weekend - a mate has offered a hand to get the lump in

Still need to source some new radiator hoses and the steel pipe to the water pump though

Posted

Week and half left on the Shitnic MOT. Has it been in for a test yet?

Also 3 days ago marked 3 months of your ownership! Apart from the duff battery (I did warn that it needed changing - i'm surprised it lasted as long as it did tbh!), I guess its been FTP free?

Oh and get busy by getting that darn Panda working! (Don't forget the pics of the job ;))

Posted

It has been amazingly FTP free - quite the workhorse

Not got it booked in for a test yet, really must tighten the steering rack bolts again (grr) and give it the once over before it goes.  Horn is Renault-ed so I don't think that will pass
