Lol!

OK, I know there are people here who would say that even if they were offered money to drive it away, but I was kind of looking for a ballpark figure, just to keep an eye on the market....

Can't remember, Eddy - but it featured in TEH OKSHUN GAIM and Julian will be along presently with the results.

That Auction Game sounds fun.  If there are going to be enough of us at Southampton on the 11th it might pep up the evening a bit...

You should consult the experts at SLOTHINABOWL AMUSEMENT ENTERPRISES INC.  :)

A big crowd for the Auction game today. Apologies for any fowl ups in the following results.

First the section winners then onto the grand totals.

For the Mrs: £50 would have got you a Peugeot 106 with 1124cc and 102k miles on an X plate. First car through the block is always cheap. Picked by Sloth in a Bowl

Under the Thumb: the Peugeot 806 was a popular choice at £325, but Cat (Mrs Pillock) showed us that the only MPV less popular than an 806 is an 807.

This thing didn't even have enough go to drag itself across the carpark and into the shed, but was sold for £140 as it stood.

Tip Run Tastic: A surprisingly large selection of tow bar enabled chod today and Dollywobbler hit the jackpot with the Mitsubshi 1.8 powered V40 at £60

For Export Only: It's that V40 again, A popular choice with Cat, Pillock, Pillockio, Conelrad and SlothIAB all selecting the nasty red brick.

Gar'n Like Fuck: A wide choice of Turbo Diesels to send to Crail like lambs to the slaughter. The cheapest one selected though was the 206 HDI (£160) as selected by Conelrad and Pillockio

It came from Korea: With the smallest selection of vehicles available then most of us when for the Hyundai Accent 3cyl dizzer with bonus Santa hat on the back seat.

The sold for £320 and was selected by: Hairnet, Bub 2006, DavidFowler, Pillockio, Conelrad asn SlothIAB

Pot Luck: A very open category but Bub2006 used it as his chance to put the £60 V40 on his sheet.

The PT cruiser with tragic stickerage went for £360 by the way.

Now for the results that everybody is waiting for:

Hairnet: £2880, Hairnet gave everybody else a generous start by putting down a Fiat Ducato van for the tip run, it reached £820

Dollywobbler: £2630, Turned up slightly late and missed the first few cars through the shed of shame. Then Ian picked a Honda Jazz and was shocked to see it reach £800.

RML2345: £2600, Did well on many categories and was unlucky in picking a Merc A class that went for £580, they usually go for much less in Cannock.

Junkman: £2470, high scorer was the Hyundai Getz at £440

Chaseracer: £2440. doing well till he added £650 to his total on Vauxhall Combo van

Bub2006: £2155, Bub's high scorer was the Kia Sedonna at £475, 2.9 litres of dizzer powered mega-crap carrying excitement

DavidFowler: £2125, David treated himself to a Passat TDI for the GLF category, it cost him £460.

Pillock: £2065, coming last in the Pillock family and so forced to do the washing up tonight, Pillock picked the same Kia as Bub and Mrs Pillock

Sloth in a bowl: £1765, high scorer was a tidy M reg Astra sport, the bidding stalled at £290 then ran up to £390

Conelrad: £1695, He spent £400 on a Renault Laguna with a tow bar.

Pillockio: £1680, Pillockio decided that his mum would like the tidy late (2008) Ford Ka, it cost him £480 and gave mum the victory.

Cat: £1655, Mrs Pillock listed the same Kia Sedonna as Pillock. Which shows that they are totally compatible in their choice of crap cars.

Well done Cat, you showed the boys, what is what, in finding cheap junk in an auction full of cheap junk.

And if you want something with a Volvo badge on, this is what sixty pounds gets you. Three weeks test but an impressive fail sheet - the online MOT checker is universally cursed by anyone trying to move something that's in need of a shedload of work

I keep on thinking I'll be good at this game. A year since my first visit and I think I did even worse this time! I also provided entertainment when my fob failed to engage with the Prelude and we got treated to a very loud siren serenade. How thankful I am that when I collected the car on Tuesday, I put the spare key in my pocket. Without that, I'd probably still be there now. Turns out the alarm is also an immobiliser!

Great fun, and my not-lost-honest route to Cannock gave me a chance to properly put the Prelude through its paces on some very, very bendy B roads. Filled up with fat-laden grub and pedalled it back home in a somewhat more relaxing manner. Grand day out.

Looks like it was a good day chaps! If it's any consolation I actually won the game today 'cos in a fit of... grief/misery/self hate (delete as applicable) I've bought a Mk6 Ford Escort MOT failure for fifty quid.

Posted

I invited her initially for a laugh, now she's beating me I might start sneaking out on a Saturday morning!

Posted

Fantastic day out chaps, that auction game was bloody good fun. We laughed... We laughed some more... Some numpty bought a minibus with one sill riveted on. The SVM will need to return soon and do it all again.

Also, being chauffeured around in a Rover P4 is very very pleasant indeed.

Posted

I managed to leave my hat at the Truckers' Rest. Chaseracer has kindly collected it. Did anyone leave a scarf there?

Posted

I think you'll find that the minibus had TWO riveted on sills. Quality job though.

Also, it was a bit bland and missable but did anyone notice the dark grey Polo go through? I followed that out onto the main road, and as he pulled away from the junction it was engulfed in a cloud of oil smoke.

Remember kids. Nothing new goes through auction without good reason.

Posted

The Polo wasn't exactly new, it had 148k miles and was an 03 plate, 1.9 dizzer.

Smokescreen of the day award went to the Clio 1.5 DCI which left most of its 65hp behind in a grey haze as it left the shed.

182k miles on the clock and I would be surprised if it sees 185k, some fool paid £330 for it.
