If you enfeabled the oil filter tool is superb at opening jar lids

Funnily enough that occurred to me when I was looking at them today.

I already have a filter wrench of that type so I didn't buy one but I did buy a demister pad on a stick for the Polo.

I bought a 'pliers' type filter wrench for the fuel filter on the C5, much tighter than the oil filter that usually just spins off by hand, coating said hand and everything in the vicinity in mucky oil.

However, I digress - the filter wrench has found much more employment in removing stubborn jar lids than it has removing the fuel filter.

£2 from eBay.  Looks fragile but works very well.

There was a Netto near my work that was pretty good and a Presto over the road.  Both closed.

Asda bought the Netto but weren't allowed to open it.  Morrisons slurped up the Presto then same thing there.

Eventually the Co-Op bought the Netto shop and although pricey was convenient.

Naturally Morissons then flattened the Presto and opened a huge branch and now the Co-Op looks sadly dejected.

Got the filter wrench which will be very useful and end that depressing point where you've drained the sump before remembering that you never did buy an oil filter wrench and will now get skint knuckles full of manky oil. Again.

Also picked up one of the blinky light battery testers which are handy for getting a general idea on battery condition during weekly checks.

Bought the alternator tester. For £2.99 it's a lot easier to cart around than a multimeter and gives a clear shit/ok/good indication for the battery and alternator. Didn't get the oil filter thing as you don't often get them in such a position where there's the space to give them plenty of leverage. I find the 3/8 ratchet attachment with 3 prongs much more successful. Or even a pair of marigolds and a good grip!

I bought 3 of the battery chargers. Seem to do the business :-)

^^ Three? The bloke in front of me in the queue last week bought six! I think he had a used car lot!

BTW - another good way of getting oil filters off if you can get your hand round them is to put a stout elastic band around the filter - it gives you superb grip (like rubber gloves would). Works with getting lids off jars too.
