There are bushes front and rear on the wishbone and also a balljoint but that would probably clonk.

The rear bush is a bit like a lollipop bush on an e30, the front is pressed in to the wishbone.

You can get just the bushes but it depends how tight you are - last time I did one it involved a press, an air chisel, much faffing and a decision to just buy full wishbones next time.

Jack it up and have a pry, it's normally pretty clear if they're knackered.

Edited to add: I paid about £80 all in for a pair of wishbones from ECP online with a discount code for my Berlingo, just looked and 306 ones are £30 a side for cheapies or £60 a side for Lemforder, minus whatever discount you can Google that day.

How much did said 730 cos BRUTHA_TOURING? Our painter was running about in it late last year and was trying to move it on. Think I may even have posted it on our Faecesebook page.

It's earned its keep by helping rescue 1 e30, and taking me to collect another for MOT

I also took the chance to have a quick swatch underneath, and was pleasantly surprised to find an exhaust system in really good condition!

However, despite spending plenty time checking for leaks with a hose, and making sure the sunroof drains were clear, the leak has continued!

We found some water getting in at he base of the window, but it seems to just run down the door and drain out. That said it is coming in at  the rear, and running out the front, which seems slightly odd..
Its really starting to annoy me!

I had similar dampness with a 3 door non sunroof 306. Never did trace the cause, but found that parking it at certain angles stopped it occurring.

I know it might sound obvious, but have you checked the seals on the back lights? A 306 I had leaked like that. Took out the lights and you could see where it had been running in. Cleaned the area under the lights and replace them nice and tight and that did the trick. It seemed to be leaking into the boot and running along the ridges on the boot floor, down under the back seat and into the foot wells.

Just a thought.....

Ill join this club! Sunroof is sealed, doors arent leaking, yet I have wet footwells!

Ill see your fancy rug doctor and raise you a Hoover Aqua Plus which I dropped and cracked the other day...

may park it up the business end of a crusher if it doesn't get sorted soon!

if it was door seals though, wouldnt the edge of the carpet that goes up to the door be wet?

genuine kwestion as mine arent!

You can't get shot of this until we have an -06 TD showdown whixh you will win at Crail.

all that water will kill the 0-60 time though. You'd best strip it out and make some holes in the floor before you go neil...

Mine was only wet at the bottom as well. The carpet is mostly plastic.

I literally watched it happen in a 306 and it was the same with the ZX.

I just made a few slits in the crushable bit of the rubber every six inches and it worked for me.

There really is nothing to lose doing it, if if doesn't stop it,it won't suddenly leak more because of it.

Maybe you need to find the middle ground between a new Kia on finance and a cheap old car, because you're not going to find many cheap old cars that don't need a similar amount of work to the Octavia you previously owned and this 306.

Mind you, some cars are so cheap now that they can be treated as consumable items.

Maybe I need to have fewer cars and more time and money to spend on the ones that are left?:)

I'm quite happy to buy cheap shitters and run them til they pass on.I'm also happy to work on them and coax some more life out them

I'm not a fan, however, of pulling engine mounts off and doing cambelts in the cold, just to be left with a car that has another 10 bits of work needing done and a swimming pool in the front footwell.

If I'd been in the hole having spent money on all the parts listed above it'd make sense to do the belt.

As is, all its cost me is a service, and I have a working* Alfa 156 to step into the breech..

I usually try to exit whilst ahead if I can!
