Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Just found out my policy with Asda (Britannia) had lapsed, on a compare site it bought up Quickfit at £40 the year with everything except Euro and homestart. £30 less than Asda but Quickfit aren't exactly known for being an honest decent company.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Apparently it's provided by Intana.
sierraman Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 You have to pay the guy that comes out then you claim it back off Kwikfit. Good luck there then. A lot of the goons they send out haven't a clue.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Another option is Axa at £48

steveo3002 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 have you looked at autoaid ? im a member but never claimed , others seem happy with what you get Craig the Princess and loserone 2
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 I have but at the moment the issue would be being able to pay in advance for any work/recovery. It really was the wrong time of year to buy, tax and insure two new vehicles.
stripped fred Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Another vote here for autoaid. Had no problems at all and claiming back has been straightforward. loserone 1
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Like I say it's not the claiming back I have an issue with it's the fact I'll be skint until Payday and couldn't cover any costs til then. Which is a twat as I get paid two days after the trip.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 I'm tempted to stick with Asda (Britannia) they've always been good even recovering my Luton. Never had an issue with them and they actually seem to listen to you when you tell them they need a flatbed. It's twice the price (£7.50 month, KwikFit £3.99) but it seems daft to risk the unknown for a couple of quid.Seemed to have answered my own question there.
lisbon_road Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Just found out my policy with Asda (Britannia) had lapsed, on a compare site it bought up Quickfit at £40 the year with everything except Euro and homestart. £30 less than Asda but Quickfit aren't exactly known for being an honest decent company. That last bit. Quikfit are indeed not known as being an honest company. Friends car had a fortune spent on it, and I can find little done. Not connected with the service you're looking for I admit but I would avoid avoid avoid.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 I know what you mean and I've known friends relatives and neighbours to be screwed by them, I put them in the same category as the Halfords Autocentre places.
Cavcraft Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 If they're like their mobile tyre fitting company, you're knackered.Had a flat on a pick- up on a Thursday morning, they said 'we should be there Tues or Weds' Jimmycrackcorn 1
steveo3002 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 do you/mrs have a credit card to cover the autoaid cost if you broke down? guess it kinda depends if you plan on calling them out alot or not
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Nothing like a quick response lol. That's the other thing I've never been left waiting long and I even had one lad find me a fan belt for my van (LDV with Pug ET70 2.5td) at 8am on a Sunday Morning to save our trip to Disneyland Paris.Fuck it I'll stick with them, after what they've done for me they deserve my loyalty.
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 do you/mrs have a credit card to cover the autoaid cost if you broke down? guess it kinda depends if you plan on calling them out alot or not Don't have/use credit cards. andrew e and DSdriver 2
steveo3002 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Don't have/use credit cards. cant say i blame you - right attitude to have too but sometimes they can be handy for a time like that - i have a ccard but its only for emergencys not wankering holidays and stuff on it lol
Tamworthbay Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 May well be the exception that proves the rule but my local kwikfit are superb, but I still use a small independent as they are cheaper.
sierraman Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Try your bank. Sometimes they chuck in the AA for a tenner or so.
CHRIS1980 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I would avoid anything that has anything to do with kwikfit. I had 2 mates who worked a separate branches and they both said that they wouldn't trust their cars there on the fact that they are instructed to "find " jobs.. I once got told by one of their tyre fitters that I had a broken coil Spring .....on a mini 1000. I asked him to show me,and he did. To his horror he couldn't find one. catsinthewelder and lisbon_road 2
DSdriver Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 When I filled in the google insurance quote comparison for Thunderbird 2 (the XM), Quickfit were cheapest and immediately got ignored because a) they were the cheapest and because they were Quickfit. I could imagine them insisting the car was repaired at one of their units if it was damaged in an incident. The smiley is what you get if you put a close parenthesis after a b. lisbon_road 1
Bren Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 After the stunt they pulled with my bike insurance, never again.
CHRIS1980 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 After the stunt they pulled with my bike insurance, never again. What was that?
Vince70 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I'm with kwikshit for my breakdown cover and didn't realise you had to pay out first and claim back later but then I didn't read the policy and I've not had to use them as yet.You don't get any paperwork with Kwikshit as its all done online but your basically just given a phone number which I just stored in my mobile Jimmycrackcorn 1
Jimmycrackcorn Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 No but I'm sure that's about to change when I start using the Jag tomorrow. In fact I think this is the first year I haven't had to call them out.Usually 3-4 times a year and always after leaving or just arriving at the Mother in laws, they recovered my LDV Luton, and both my Mercs from the South Coast to Sunderland so well worth the monies. The one time I went without I had to get recovered from Sheffield home and it wasn't cheap.
