How many others cars have an RFL in excess of the cars value?

A growing list of 55 reg onwards cars with thirsty engines, written off due to the cost of road tax.

Not three examples of the same car though. Even if they will *snigger* break to FIFTEEN HUNDRED POUNDS.

That 2.0 T auto will be epic! Did you realise it has sat nav? Entry level turn-by-turn system. I had it on my Mégane and it's actually a very good system despite no colour mapping. Enjoy. Oh and I've just had to put two injectors in my 2.0 T Vel Satis - you've that to look forward to!

Texted a lad about a laguna for sale today. Here is a transcript of the text conversation:

Me: Hi there just wondering if your Laguna has sold?

Seller: Hi Still have it

Me: Oh no! I was hoping it would be sold, as I need it like I need a hole in the head (got 2 lagunas already) but it looks really nice!!!

Seller: Oh thanks I bet your dead grandparents look nice as well ahahahahahahahahah

Me: Eh? You've lost me there chief

Seller: DIE

Me: Seems a bit harsh

Seller: Don't send me stupid messages when I'm selling a car then

Me: Sorry, it was supposed to be a compliment about the car, thats all. It looks nice and i was thinking about coming for a look

Anyway I persisted and agreed to go over for a look tonight, but he didnt send me any details of where to come to until I had already got home from work, which was a bit late in the day, so it never quite happened and now i have no chance till at least Tuesday so thats probably the end of that.

Spoke to him on the phone this evening and as i suspected he was alright actually, just pig sick of gumtree wankers offering him 20% of the asking price without seeing it.

Only in a Laguna thread can such a bizarre seller/vendor conversation take place.

My wife tried to sell a khazi on Gumtree and some lads phoned her at 6am one day asking if they could take a jobby in it to see if it suited them, so takes all sorts I guess!

You remember the old Pink Panther films where Inspector Clouseau's boss has that nervous twitch?  That's what Laguna ownership gives you, no wonder the seller was having trouble dealing with people.

Hi,

my Laguna 2 was actually more than 25 times the price of yours.... :)

As I said somewhere else- mine runs well and reliably - touch wood.

Those electrical faults in the dash are often due to blocked water drains. If you hear water flushing when you go around corners you should worry. To avoid problems one should clean the drains under the shuttle panel, especially (but not only) if you own a car with a sunroof.

My brother´s laguna (1.6 16v) had those ECU problems due to the sunroof. Friends own a 2.0 16V... So we have got three Laguni here- I am going to keep you updated about ours.

Daniel

Just watched this. Looks like tomorrow morning's job to stop my laguna 2 having matching indoor swimming pools.

Never know, if it works I'll remove the plastic bag drapped over the fusebox currently...

But '3 bidders'!? All I can conclude is that it's R9UKE, Bollox and himself in a Tyler Durden-esque self wallet destroying Shite Club.

R9UKE bought the red W reg facelift V6 manual one from the other day, apparently it's proper decent!

PISS!!!!! I just missed out on what must be 2016 EBAY LAGUNA OF THE YEAR!

I bid £920 and was sniped in the last moments.

WTF. Why didn't this come up in my eBay saved searches?? God darn it. Telfords not even that far from me either!

I also missed out on a Phase 2 v6 that was on Gumtree for £800. Short MOT, but FSH and all that. Unfortunately I had to go sofa shopping. Ended-up spending more on fucking sofas than I've got budgeted for another car. :?

There's a cracking phase 2 on the bay atm, its 1600 which is too much for me but it looks as good as is realistically achievable

Yup I've seen that one. Looks in excellent condition. It's expensive, but given if that work has all been done, then there is unlikely any more that needs doing ...wait, its a Laguna II, stuff will always need doing.

Tempted to make a offer on it. The one thing that puts me off? Silver. I dislike silver cars. (Yet I seem to keep owning them)

But then actually, imo, it actually looks quite good in Silver.

Kinda just waiting for one to come up that isn't 3-4 hours away, as I'm struggling to get free time as it is, let alone travel >8hrs round trip to see something that may be shit. Also I would really, really like a Phase 2 estate - but can't be picky on this. So far all the phase 2's that have been for sale have been 55reg and earlier, which is very lucky in itself (tax).

60% of all Laguna V6's seem to be silver with grey leather, which I by far the dullest combo i reckon. Pretty much any other colour combo is an improvement.

The crème interior on the phase 2 looks nice, but as we're planning to have kids in the not too distant future, it could be a disastrous choice. The black leather looks pretty decent still on the ph2 however. Haven't seen any crazy colours on them though and the style of the seats is different. So I guess they tamed things down on them a lot.

Not everyone will agree to this view but I personally actually really like the phase 2 fronts. OK not as striking as the phase 1, but still not bad looking IMO. I like the fact they're anonymous looking, yet with the v6, would give many BMW rep mobiles a surprise both in acceleration and noise when competing in the all important* traffic light GP.

Surely the only way a Laguna can be worth £900 is if there's £800 worth of drugs in the glovebox?  I'd call that a lucky escape, Bo11

Posted

That's what I was thinking. I can understand the idea of taking on a challenge and finding out how to make them work, but paying proper money and having several of them is a step too far IMO.

Posted

Commisserations Mr Bol, that V6 looked really nice. A lot of money for a Laguna 2 though. The circumstances of the car - cast-iron sh*te credentials, low mileage, great condition, giffer owned - sounds like a prime benjyp purchase. Own up benjyp - did you beat Mr Bol in this auction?

FACCCCCCKKKKKKKK no it wasn't me, but it bloody well would've been if I'd have seen it! Tan leather hatchback and 20k miles. Wouldn't have come up under my "Renault V6" search given her brilliant title for the ad. That looked an absolute cracker.

Yeh, my Monaco arrived a few days ago. Bloody chuffed with it. Didn't think I'd like a manual V6 after my RTi Laguna, but it's class. Even the shat nav works. Well, as long as you're not wanting a route that may have changed in the last 18 years.

I'm impressed with your confidence in a Laguna running long enough for the colour of the seats to be an issue with as yet unborn kids. There's the standard 9 month delivery time plus another 9 months or so until they start making a mess.

The Laguna that this will be relevant to, hasn't been made yet.

I only remembered this morning, but have you checked the gearbox oil yet? On these, there is a special green plastic dipstick you buy from Renault. The idea is, you remove the refill plug, fit the dipstick into position and withdraw it again, noting the level. What many mechanics do it remove the refill plug, note that it's not running out and then pump another litre or two of oil in. Not long after, the gearbox shits an oil seal and you have a buggered gearbox as all the oil has been flung out.

I gave mine away to a mate with a Trafic alas.
