Lukas Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Oh yes, thats a completely different Story then... danthecapriman 1
Junkman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I think I will proof you wrong! Oh wait, you did that by yourself... Not one yank in the list. I'm not wrong, I'm merely unable to afford the kind of yank I want. danthecapriman 1
danthecapriman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I'm not wrong, I'm merely unable to afford the kind of yank I want.Imperial? Again!
Junkman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 No, they leave me oddly cold nowadays. What I'd really want is another '60 Buick. eddyramrod and danthecapriman 2
mat_the_cat Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I'm not wrong, I'm merely unable to afford the kind of yank I want. There are some kinds of yank which are cheap and easily available, if you know which street corners on which to look...
hauserplenty Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 ...Yes, but we don't...really...talk about that on here. ...Oh, you must mean cars. I could dig on a 1975 Buick Century. Or a 1941 Buick LaSalle. Other than that, sorry to see you give up but ya do what ya gotta do. Junkman 1
Junkman Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 ... Pajeros are crap, my mother is ugly and I am completely out of my mind...? Come on, don´t be childish! I didn't say with one word that Pajeros (or any Japanese cars for that matter) are crap.I don't even know what your mother looks like, and if you think you are completely out of your mind, you should visit the UK and experience a standard British intellectual in the wild.Hence, if someone here shouldn't be childish, I kindly suggest, it's you. All I wrote was, that I find Japanese cars irritating. There are some kinds of yank which are cheap and easily available, if you know which street corners on which to look... I know, I have the odd Seville STS on my eBay watchlist exactly like the next man, but considering how much I would use it,there is no point. As I said, ideally I'd have a '60 Buick, because I find them very pretty cars, the survival rate is unusually high (I can explain why)and if I'd be lucky for once, mine would have been built late 1959, so I could skip that stupid and pointless MoT.
eddyramrod Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 considering how much I would use it, there is no point. How much would you use it? I have a 1973 Cadillac here. Most people would consider that an insane move. I have nowhere to keep it off-street, never mind under cover; so because of that, it just gets used. I go to work in it for about half the week, plus leisure motoring, which tends to be of the car-show variety anyway so at least I've got something to exhibit. It isn't the prettiest, there's a lot of cosmetic stuff that could and really should be sorted, but while it's with me it isn't going to get that. I like it looking a bit down-market. So, is half the week "enough?" If so, get in there and buy something! Look, you have a whole lot more experience than I do, so a car with relatively minor issues shouldn't present you with any problems. If you need any more encouragement, talk to Bobthebeard about his/my Mercury Sable, which I was using as my daily, winter and summer. It's directly comparable to your Rovers at a fraction of the price. As is, I suggest, Lukas's Buick! dugong and danthecapriman 2
danthecapriman Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I don't use my Mercury much, probably once every other weekend. I don't have a garage for it either, and I'm not much of a car show guy.Who gives a shit!? If you want something then get it! dugong and eddyramrod 2
Junkman Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Please at least try to understand me.Yes, not using a 70s, or 60s, or 50s yank a lot would be perfectly fine, and I'm all for it. But I can't afford one at the moment, or actually, for the forseeable future.A yank I could afford would be along the lines of a STS or Park Avenue, or ideally* a Neon, but those are not the ones I'd want for not using them a lot.So I rather keep my money, than spend it on something I don't really want and wouldn't use enough to justify the expenditure in any way, wheras spendage on one I really want wouldn't require any justification. eddyramrod 1
Lukas Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 Fresh pictures from today: I would like to have 1800 Euro (negotiable) or make me an offer. It is advertised in Austria and on the german mobile.de, so I´ll have to wait if someone wants it. chaseracer, worldofceri, Negative Creep and 4 others 7
Lukas Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 It´s sold finally. Tomorrow it will get collected. Hopefully. So my time with the Park Avenue is over and I am reliefed. It was a time full of ups and downs, but more downs sadly. Today, I took it for a last drive and when I switched on the radio, this song played: Somehow, it fits the Park Ave. It was an interesting experience that I would not want to miss. But For me I can say, that I am not lost for other cars nowI owned a (half-arsed) yank. Lukas Sigmund Fraud, Asimo and danthecapriman 3
danthecapriman Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 It's a shame this didn't work out a bit better for you, but it's good that it's now sold and you can move on to something else. And I'm also glad it didn't end up becoming a garden planter. All I'd say is, don't let this cloud your judgement about american cars! They really are fantastic things to drive and own. If you do get the opportunity I'd seriously recommend having a go with something a good deal older, the best stuff is from the 70's and earlier and there really is nothing quite like them. eddyramrod and Rocket88 2
