Yep, unfortunately, due to a surprise act of hostility by the Salvation Army, I had to make a hasty retreat back to base, which in the time I had been gone has been taken over by an even more militant arm of the WI.

 

Fearing for my life, I've holed up in the garden shed for a bit waiting for re-reinforcements to arrive. Once I have some backup, I'm planning a pincer attack using some of the weaponry to hand (at the moment, this only includes a hoe, a grass rake and a few old plant pots sadly)

 

Hopefully once I've seen them off, I'll be able to resume with the collection this evening which should be safer as the WI will be sidetracked this evening setting up tomorrows coffee morning and bun sale. The salvation army should also be bored by then and will have resumed their normal charity work.
