Manchester Classic car show, Event City

Just wondered if any other 'shiters were going to this? I'm bringing the Somerset this year, and I'll be on the Young Guns Classics stand. I have dark brown hair and glasses if anyone wants to say hello!

Posted

its within walking distance but its how much?!?!?!?!?!

nec better value

going to york instead

Posted

£12.50 doesn't seem too bad to me. But as an exhibitor I get in free anyway

Posted

P6 Club didn't want my car on the stand this year.

Now they are short of cars, but I'm insulted. Hence they, and the entire show, must see how they manage without me.

Which is no mean feat, since I can't leave them alone for five minutes without all chaos breaking lose.

We went last year which was the second show.

Not a bad day out plus plenty to see.

Only gripe was there wasn't much in the way of food, £3.50 for a sausage bap anyone??

Bumped into this chap though. post-19687-0-97587200-1442572630_thumb.jpeg

I will be there on Sunday with the Sporting Bears outside hopefully getting the public to part with some hard earned for a ride in an old Jensen.

All money goes to children's charity's so hopefully I will be busy all day but if it's quiet I will get a quick look round the show.

Come and say hello if you see me.

Enjoy the car show Dicky, its too far for me!

Although, I did just pass a B reg MK2 Cavalier Hatchback in Hoblythick Lane, it looked pretty good in that sky blue they nearly all came in.

Posted

Yeah I've seen that cavalier a couple of times recently, haven't managed to get a picture yet though.

Manchester is great, like the nec but smaller and more relaxed. I saw Dugong briefly yesterday but didn't manage to speak to him

How busy is it this year?

We had a trade stand there the first year and it was the longest weekend of my life. Nice show but not busy enough by a long way. I'd like to do it again but need it to be a good bit busier to make the numbers add up.

Posted

There's a decent amount of people, but it's definitely nowhere near as busy as the NEC, for example.

I was having a look at the Falcon ute and the parts as well, i was the spikey haired fella in a parka who asked his mrs if she wanted the mk4 escort clocks as spares and joked about them coming with half a tank of petrol. I was in my black sapphire if you saw it

I got a few shit ones on my phone, sadly my camera decided to have a 'fail to proceed' moment early on in the show. Hopefully someone else got some better ones!

A few of mine - couple more are on my Twatter page (it's a regular thing I do to give me something to write about to make me sound remotely interesting)

Love these people who rock up to car shows with stuff that's better than most of the exhibitors. It's like Pavarotti turning up to watch the X Factor.

It's a good show, but no, it's never particularly busy.

I got stuck in traffic going there on Saturday because the front wheel fell off someone's Audi and went flying down the M60 on its own.

Here you go Mr Conelrad (I thought it looked familar!) :-D

The floodlights are positioned towards visitors and not in front of the "subject" - the Code Clean concours might as well have been held at midnight.

They weren't daft enough to let me park on carpet!

I've asked the organisers to change the faerie lights - they said visitors like them.

Meanwhile, my camera has a fit.
