Astra shite

Had a call recently from my brother who is a local Vicar as he needed a cheap runaround, a friend had this little 1.6 petrol/102k/10 mth MOT beauty sitting around and had had it for 5 yrs, she is known as " the fanny magnet" so obviously is the ideal shiter for a Vicar :-D. Seriously though, checkout those blingy rims !4  New tyres and all new copper brake pipes are a nice find!

It wants a new backbox which was £30 from egay and is yet to be fitted and seems to be faltering/hesitating while cruising on a light throttle but otherwise is peachy, exhaust will be fitted today but if the issue still persists the EGR will get a clean or be blocked off and I'll take it from there but any other tips would be appreciated if you have experience of these

Now what you should have done was bought my awesome Astra ;-) - check EGR valve as mentioned as they can clog up and cause running issues. Clean the TB while you're at it.

Rims will be staying due to the £220 new tyreage recently applied to them but they are indeed awful , car was £150 so pretty happy with it. Just got to sort a few little niggles and it can enter the service of the lord via the newly re christened" Reverend fanny magnet" he's stangely not very happy with his new nickname :-D .

Can't go wrong for £150.. Is it the 8v engine (X16SZR)?  These will go on and on with a little maintenance.

As above, check the EGR isn't stuck, give it some fresh plugs and an oil change and it'll provide sterling service without the need of divine intervention :D

Run the tyres out then change, should be able to get 4 steelies with shit tyres on for bhttons, then the new tyres will be cheaper (possibly!). looks like a good buy!

Turns out it's a 16v. Had to take it in to get the back box put on as the bolts snapped and needed a gas torch, luckily the garage owner had a brand new GM EGR valve he couldn't return which I got for £30 ( RRP£80) , it's running sweet now and gets handed over tomorrow !

I might* have 4 x 14 inch steelies on my garage roof and 1 x 14 inch alloys off a mk3 1.6 8V artic in the shed, and maybe a 15 inch Calibra wheel somewhere around the garden.

In the event that an autoshitter wants them, in return for erm something other than cash, that has no intrsic value, they can probably* have them.

*wife mentioned getting rid of stuff on the garage roof, so I was thinking of making a BBQ out of the steel one's.
