I think it was law for those Cortinas to have one rear light that the orange had gone white. Not both. Only one.

Boldon Lane, South Tyneside.

Funny how Renault 14s so frequently pop up in old photos, people tend to forget nowadays that they were once quite a common sight.

Ye Oldier Forth Banks. Now home to Newcassels premier Police Station and holding cells. Pain in the arse in the ice or when you have a shit handbrake and the traffic is crawling.

Now I see why the shopping centre in Tyneside is called The Metrocentre.

Metros were 3 times as popular as Thunderbirds- that is a proven fact.

Edited to add one of the Metros is in fact a Fiesta pretending to be a Metro.

Still twice as popular as Fiestas,Astras,Thunderbirds,Audi 80s and Escort Vans, indisputable FACT.

The bloke that owned that Tbird lived on Low Friar St I think. It was always parked up there anyway and was well known around the town. Back when seeing an american car on the road was very rare.

Hmm... I cannot for the life of me place this road/bridge combo.....

The A1018 is Sunderland/SSh road and appears to be making a 'priority' Left Turn (blue signpost) but with traffic lights? Sign post shows no crossing 'T' at the junction ahead... but a minor right of way, straight on.

Might be a 'one way at a time' bridge road width??

nope.... has me baffled!!

*AneeHoo*... I did make a comment (some while ago) about standing on the 'Get Carter' car park, near the top of the stairwell - where the guy gets chucked over - you could see a 'Huge Hole' being dug & a 3 storey building appear but all below street level......

Told Ja So......

Moar bosses. Eldon Square Co2 asphyxiation station. As was.

Great thread. And my bus home, the 87 (or 88). It's dirtier than I remember down there. Old Haymarket bus station that is...

Some cracking old pics on this thread. Glad i looked in. One tends to just look for stuff in ones own area :)

Whilst this thread will be followed by NE England folk, does Any one remember a firm called blagdons? Something to do with oil barrels? Its a name i hadent heard since the late 80s,but am sure i heard it mentioned the other day somewhere . My grandad used to work for them.

I also , for a short while when i was 3 or so , lived in south sheilds whilst my dad was doing his masters ticket. All i can remember is the chap next door had a mk10 jag and an allegro, i think he was called keith. both cars were white, and the allegro was always on ramps in the street, a street like many in these pics There was a fruit shop near by, and i use to get a red apple for a treat. :) Ah, i love the memories old pics bring back. :) sorry for the rammble.......

Im going to guess that its somewhere along here, pre-western approach bypass and that the road no longer exists.

Custombilt is gone, now. So that ^ explains it!

Good thing Sunderland* benefitted hugely* from the formation of Tyne and Wear, eh?

Still, at least the phone boxes and horses are safe.

.... Urban streetlights and a church steeple yon side of embankment....

If it is running Ncl/Sland BR - past the dogs and 'tile sheds'- I cannot hook it up to Sunderland/SSh link road.

GrrrGrrr there goes my #unt count, up again
