The first buildings in the picture from 1977 are still there. Also they are still serving the same purpose, but now both called Lloyds.

Just before the bank is a carpet showroom and and ESSO/Tesco Extra petrol station. My guess is you got your Skoda from what is now the carpet shop.

The location no longer exists as this shot was taken on the Metro test track between West Allotment and Middle Engine Lane. That whole area has been redeveloped since the test track closed in 1980. The give away is that the train has Special on the destination board.

Here's another shot from the same place. In the distance you can see the Tynemouth Substation.

And here's an overhead shot of the yard at Middle Engine Lane. I think where the road crosses the track is where the pictures were taken.
