Smell of freshly painted panels painted with Teckaloid , heavy glorious smell

The heavy thickset bearing grease, and My old Vennie, burnt exhaust mixed with oil fuel, and vinyl. Best 70's smell going

For me it's a song, Alexander O'Neils' "Critisize". Always reminds me of being a wee nipper, playing in the footwell of the family cavalier (A584 LBV, brown mk2 1.6L) as mum sang along.

Good times.

Volvo 240's with ( i assume ) seized vicous fans .

The Council Estate does that. Means that all the horsespower are used up between a constantly driven fan and the ZF slushmatic 'box.

Squeaky Vauxhall clutch pedals is my vote.

The distinctive exhaust note of a Sherpa Coupe in the distance- this was when they were new and driven hard, theses days I never notice them, but as they're trundling along at 30 mph so the drivers pipe doesn't go out, that's not surprising.

in 1985 the sound of a Group B rally car ,especially a Quattro approaching from up to 10 miles away through a snowy forest in the middle of the night. Hundreds of freezing men would suddenly go completely silent until the car burst into view and then the gasp of excitement mixed with the deafening roar and machine gun rattle of gravel, ice and snow on the underside of the car, trees and spectators. Then following a further stunned silence, a mass nervous laugh and excited chatter, only for the cycle to start again as the next car started the stage.

The melancholy sigh of Volvo bus air brake chambers as it edges along in busy traffic.

The asthmatic wheezing of a Volvo TD70 cold starting.

The sharp bark of a Leyland Leopard exhaust, especially, for some reason, Alexander Y type bodied ones.
