fantasy garage, Autoshite style

So, it’s fair to say that, for the discerning ‘Shiter, any off roading must be carried out in an UMM, preferably one that has been in the country for years and as such has a good amount of rust.

Similarly, when a ‘Shiter fancies a blast around the countryside in a drop top, he reaches for the keys for his trusty MGF, complete with split rear screen and HGF issues.

But what other vehicles does he have at his disposal? What does he commute in? A run down to the Riviera? The school run?

In a perfect world, what would be in the ultimate Autoshite garage and why?

Citroen Visa 4 door convertable for those summer days ( MGFs just too common at moment )

Lada Niva for off roading

Amphicar for the commute and to avoid the jams ( dpending where you live )

Series one Renault Scenic diesel ( RIP)  for shopping / kids etc

Posted

Commuting - 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix with slushbox issues

Run to Riviera - LHD BMW 316, fresh HG but still suspect cooling issues

School Run - Mk 1 Granada Estate with 2 weeks MOT left on it and screwdriver ignition key

I can highly recommend each of the above from personal experience

Never been offroading but when I took a couple of mates out to a marooned Massey Ferguson in a 75 percent ploughed field I used a Renault 4.

OK then:

Cars

Fun/classic: Pug 205GTi  (got one)

Topless fun: Mk1 MX5  (got one)

Long distance cruiser: either a V6 engined Cit XM (or a 406 V6 at a push) or a W124 M-B coupe, a 300CE?  (don't have!)

Practical(-ish): A short-bed US pickup truck, probably a care-worn 70'/80's Chevy LUV with s/b V8. (wish I had)

Off-road/winter: SWB Landie, prob series 3, 90. (think everyone should have a LR at some time in their life)

Minging old tut that you could park anywhere:  Not bothered - anything sub-£500 (pref £300) would do just fine (have, in the form of a 406 dizzle) Something like a Renault 4 would be nice.

Schoolrun:  N/A - no kids

Bikes:

Fun/classic: Yamaha 350YPVS  (got one)

Practical/town hack: Honda 250RS or XLR250  (had both - don't now, should've kept!)

Cruiser:  BMW K75  (never have but think I will in the next couple of years)

Oh, and just to piss people off, a Reliant 3-wheeler of some sort (No TITCo. livery please), not fussed which one but just because I think I ought to own one for a while, no real reason.
