Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I think not, as photos of that type on the net show only one connector prong. It's one with three prongs, out of stock at Rimmer's http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GPS123 Eddie Honda 1

Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Apparently the switch is used in slant 4 vauxhalls and many other vehicles. Advertised on ebay but I do not know how to attach the link. ou just copy and paste the url fron the window at the top of your browser. Magnificent Rustbucket Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Quinton Hazell Oil Pressure Switch XOPS10 is listed as compatible here: http://www.micksgarage.com/proddetails.aspx?pid=1316911&pk= http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quinton-Hazell-Genuine-Replacement-Oil-Pressure-Switch-XOPS10-/191660593856?nma=true&si=%252FZUP%252B44IM2PuD47LxqpgV9vvHPI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 They may still have one. Edited to add - just seen that they don't - I didn't see that when I first posted the link. From France (hopefully there's less demand there; they don't say they haven't got one...) http://www.piecesauto.com/fr/pressostat-d-huile/quinton-hazell-xops10/805.1383664.html
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Switch fitted, engine running smoothly. Clutch may need bleeding, otherwise all yaaaaaaay. drum, anonymous user, skattrd and 2 others 5
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I had forgotten that I had bought one on eBay last month just in case. Also found another one on eBay and bought that today as a spare. Very glad that the problem turned out to be so small.

Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Yay that. I was mucho relieved indeed. The culprit switch is very oily - it had been allowing the oil to spaff past it and onto the floor in a scay-ree fashion. It tells the fuel to switch off when the oil pressure drops way low, sensibly but annoyingly immobilising the car. Anyone any good at clutch hydraulics? Not sure if I have a cylinder issue or just air in the system. The car has been sat on its arse for a while.

Not sure if I have a cylinder issue or just air in the system. The car has been sat on its arse for a while. I removed, posted off and refitted the master and slave cylinders on mine so I am an SD1 CLUTCH HYDRAULICS GOD. Thread here: http://autoshite.com/topic/15402-my-sd1-tomorrows-car-yesterday-clutch-fixed/?p=807673 An Eezibleed kit is your friend for making fluid change/bleeding simple. If the cylinder has packed up, which is what happened to mine after a period of non-use, then Past Parts did a good job of the refurb but it did take them a few weeks, during which time the car was (obviously) a non-runner up on ramps. Edit: PS You haz pm.
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Arse, been mad busy, left it too late to get new cylinders just in case, but will try tomorrer. Am now buying and hoarding SD1 spares anyway as they are becoming rare.
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 My mech says "Well if the slave cylinder had failed altogether I would have expected it to leak allthe fluid away, but sometimes what happens is whilst standing a whileeither some air creeps in past the seals or there has been a build up ofmoisture in the fluid and water reacts with alloy and forms a corrosionon the surfaces so the seals don't seal properly, so when you push thepedal down you don't get the full travel at the slave cylinder end.Bleeding the clutch system might bring full working back but expect thatto be temporary possibly. It might need a clean out and new fluid longterm."
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 ROVALUVVIN (sorry for wankrag Torygraph link) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/news/guilty-pleasures-nine-rovers-you-probably-shouldnt-want-to-own-b/ Six-cylinder, MrBiscuits, MarvinsMom and 1 other 4
Skizzer Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 With mine, there was no fluid leak and bleeding the air out made almost zero difference; the seals in both cylinders had basically disintegrated and turned into goo. When I drained the fluid it was black, which was a bit of a giveaway. Soz I have been no help, because work suddenly went a bit mad. It'll be ok soon though because my client will see AS on their internet log files and boot me out of the building, thus freeing me up for important things like helping with ancient BL hydraulics. skattrd 1

Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Get in! But, NB: you have to bring a hot missus. Sorry, rules.
xtriple Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 My (very) hot missus kicked me to the kerb - clever as well then!
Guest Breadvan72 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Bummer! Still, if you had one, you can get another. Such is life. Skizzer, Mr_Bo11ox and xtriple 3
Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 The incredible SIR BOLLOX OF AUTOSHITE rocked up at my place and freed the stuck clutch on the Rover, so once again it has been out bothering modern Beemers and such. Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 What did he hit it with to free it off? He hit it with a clue. Signor Testiculos has many a clue when it comes to cars shonky and various. Me, I loves cars, me, but I have nary a clue about dey heaps. All my dad's efforts to imbue in me mechanical cluenessness utterly failed. Having had two clutch probs on other cars in the last year or two (one dud clutch, fixed by a certain Capitano Cojones, and one dud slave cylinder, fixed by some bloke), when I couldn't get the RovahDaytonah to budge I went all OMG BROKKENESS. A clued person would have seen, as Herr Von Nutzen saw, that the fookah was just stuck on, Derrr. PS: Am sooo glad to be back in the 1970s/80s big fast saloon driving world. Lovely as my new freebie Bimmer is, it ain't got the fabness of the Sd1. Skizzer 1

Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I had also fergit how whooshy quick it can be, once you wind it up. Those modern Bimmers were scattered asunder as I cranked and banked along the M40. Lots of people looking at it going "WTF is that?" as I stonked by. anonymous user 1
NorfolkNWeigh Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 If you like scattering traffic, you'd have loved driving my dads white V reg 2600 company car ,which he had in 81/82 and as a 17 year old I was insured on. M1 J14 to J1 , 3rd lane ,indicated120mph, headlights on full beam, 25 minutes, every body moved out of the way. The JRG 2.0 Granada that replaced it wasn't quite the same , wasn't as reliable either, surprisingly. Skizzer and andrew e 2
Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I am suffering a typical SD1 problem - the cheapo cover on the top of the instrument pod has warped in the sun. Are there any known bodges for this? I can look out for a a scrappy one,I suppose, or make one out of a sugar puffs box (just like BL did in the first place: Me, I blame Blue Peter, me).
