Standalone stereo

I'm after some advise guys n gals . My newly purchased landrover is without stereo and I would say it has never had one or any speakers . This is a look I would like to keep tbh . Is there anything available as a standalone ( it has cigar lighter and I don't mind running power from the battery) music device ?

Ideally I would like Bluetooth so I can stream from my iPhone . Needs to be reasonable sound quality cos it's a Landy but it's not that noisy being a petrol one .

Any ideas or suggestions ? Haven't really got the time to make a box up with a radio in it tbh .

Stick this on the back seat

Has bluetooth, doesn't say if it's got a DC input but it runs off 10 X D-cells so you could hook up a cig lighter plug to the battery terminals.

That looks a beast . Similar to what I've found on eBay but a bit bigger . Some have USB charging for the rechargeable battery's so that might work . Depends on sound quality I suppose

I guess it depends how noises the Land Rover is.

I had a portable DAB radio on the passenger seat of my old Transit and above about 15 mph you couldn't even tell it was on, never mind listen to it.

I suspect my Transit was even less refined than a land rover, but not by much.

Have a look at the iluv range of Bluetooth speakers. I've got a basic £15 one that sounds great in an average sized room... not sure a little one could deal with the landy but I reckon one of the bigger ones would.

Maybe a bluetooth speaker like this:

http://www.engadget.com/products/jbl/flip-2/

It's about the size of a beercan. It'll go really fuckin loud and you get about 3 hours or so before it needs a recharge.

Only thing is it seems to only take a charge off its own mains charger.

Maybe the vent lever would hold it in place

I got one of those portable blutooth speaker things as a pressie. Bloody brilliant and I use it everywhere.

It only charges from the mains but battery life is supposed to be 14 hours and has never been a problem. Its a bose something......sounds bloody good

I did have a cd player powered by my jump pack for a while but it was cumbersome and shit...........although very shite.

I'd be getting a second hand car amp and hooking it up to a second hand set of dromestic hifi speakers. Just plug your iPhone into it on a mini jack cable.

It'd sound way better and not need charged etc.

If you really wanted wireless streaming you could make something in the future with a raspberry pi or similar..

what you need is one of these - and shares in Duracell !

Cheers for the input guys , going to go for a bluetooth speaker . A jbl flip 2 seems the right size, shape and subtlety . Good job my birthday is only a month away 😄

Shame, as they were £40 a week ago. Back up to 100 now.

If you can stretch to a UE Boom, it's better all round - louder, longer battery (15 hours), more durable (splash and dust proof, rubber instead of painted metal grille). Also has a tripod mount so you can gorillapod it to something.

I've got two of each for training at work and the only upside of the Flip2 is it'll work as a speakerphone.

Both Flip2 and Boom work from micro USB, so any old phone charger will work.
