Some spots from the Isle of SHITE

Rockin' a 60 year old Land Rover as daily transport has (some) advantages, for example it gets you invited in for a guided tour of a chod-packed old garage on the 'south island'. I am sure the locals among you will recognise the location.

Enfield!! The owner told us he swept up a load of the 'stock' when the island-based factory closed. The goppingly awful Enfield Safari was also in there but well sheeted up.

Looks like a great place to have a browse around!

re the spotting ID pic- on the right looks like an austin a135 princess or on the left is it a 109 santana? (the proportions dont look quite right for that though)

Posted

Sure it is a Princess, the blue thing isn't a Santana though (I didn't know what it was until I was told)

Posted

If not a Santana,is it an Iranian Morattab Pazhan (sp?) ? The one piece windows and series doors combo rings a bell. I think they still make them like that.

Posted

Good guess but nope!! It does look very similar.

Is it D701 SWL?

Sorry. I'll show myself out.

I was going to say the same.

If its a license-built LR then it could be from Minerva in Belgium, Ottokar in Turkey, Tempo in Germany, Morattab in Iran or god knows where else.

That last picture, is that the Co-op car park in Shanklin?

That Maxi is a local car - DL plate.

Hydrobungee heaven!  Doesn't the rear 1/4 of that 3Litre look good on those wheels?

Wow some glorious stuff there! My faves are the cows hips Austin A40/50 (so much cuter than the later A55)and the FE Victor. I used to have one of these and loved it.
