DodgyBastard Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 Needs carlton wheel trims to finish it off. Wrong size.
DodgyBastard Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 This Lada is well travelled, new in East Anglia, then to Anglesea, now in Scotlandshire with FOAD Motorsâ„¢ It was in Banchory, Manchester, Dublin then back into Scotland when I bought it.

DodgyBastard Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 Trial fitted the alleycats on the Riva, didn't like them so sold them on and keeping the original steels. Lada Riva 1500E by srblythe, on Flickr Lada Riva 1500E by srblythe, on Flickr I went for a 200 mile drive in it yesterday and it still keeps plodding along. It's really quite slow especially on hills but I love driving it anyway. I'm considering buying some original springs and raising it up to standard height. I think it looks good as it is but having to slow right down for speed bumps is mildly annoying. oldcars, RobT, DeeJay and 8 others 11
DodgyBastard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 Fitted some 106 rallye steels to the zx and insured it. I'll get it in for a test this week. DSC_0833 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0850-1 by srblythe, on Flickr I've finished all of the welding so I'm hoping it passes first time. It drives really well and I couldn't see any causes for concern when working underneath it. worldofceri, Supernaut, Lacquer Peel and 7 others 10

DSC_0857 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0858 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0861 by srblythe, on Flickr I took it away to a local garage to have the work done and I'm hoping to have it back by the end of the month. DodgyBastard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 I've been using the Lada daily up until today when it started knocking quite badly on bumps. DSC_0876 by srblythe, on Flickr I inspected further and found that one of the front shocks had come loose and pierced a hole in the strut top after hitting a big bump. I've retired the car to the unit until I get a set of standard ride height springs. I already have the shocks but will change them all at the same time. jonathan_dyane and Angrydicky 2
DodgyBastard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 I wanted to start clearing out some of my cars so set about removing the axle from my spares c15. DSC_0942 by srblythe, on Flickr 6 bolts removed and it was off. I took some more spares off the van and scrapped it. Coprolalia 1
DodgyBastard Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 Mrs Foad's 360 has been off the road since December. DSC_0218 by srblythe, on Flickr She had the E28 then 940 to use so the 360 was left on the drive where it eventually failed to start on numerous occasions, I last tried to start it a couple of months ago when I fitted some new plugs and a new fuel pump relay in hope that it would fire to life.It didn't work...Yesterday Mrs Foad was out so I decided I was going to drag the volvo out and take it along to the unit to try and get to the bottom of the starting issue. I brought a straight pole and planned to use the ranger to tow it while my pal Nisfan would have to steer the 360. we brought a battery along so he could mirror when I would be indicating and braking so stuck the battery in and first turn of the key it fired to life.Amazing! I took it for a run for 100 miles today and it performed faultlessly. I'm guessing that there's moisture getting in somewhere which is causing it to fail to start but since the weather has been quite warm recently the car has dried out and is running fine. Next time it rains it might be a different story... RobT 1
KruJoe Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 That Rover is the spit of my L-reg white one (that tried to kill me from behind). Glad you saved it. Your ZX gives me butterflies every time I see pics of it. I'm sure it's winking at me. Supernaut 1
twosmoke300 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I'm intrigued by the push bike wheel under the c15 😄 Special tool?

Supernaut Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Your ZX gives me butterflies every time I see pics of it. I'm sure it's winking at me. The combination of the colour and the Rallye wheels really do make for a very alluring car, don't they? Tasty. I just zoomed in on the photo and noticed you even have the little centre caps off a Citroen Berlingo on it. Ace! I keep meaning to get round to finding some of them for the Xantia... DodgyBastard Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Zx went in for its Mot this morning and passed with no advisories. £120 well spent! Obviously it took a bit of time, welding wire and underseal to get it ready for a test but for what I paid for the car and the time I put into welding it I'm pleased with the result. DodgyBastard Posted April 28, 2017 Author Posted April 28, 2017 Some good news! DodgyBastard Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 The 18 really just needed a sill replaced. The rest of the welding had been completed by derskine in winter 2015 and I welded a rear arch in. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
