DodgyBastard Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Do you want some more. That pug looks lovely is it on the road now ? There's always room for more. The only Peugeot on the road is the gold srd estate, the other two still need some fettling before going in for a test. The blue one failed in April mainly on brakes and it's taken me this long to start trying to make some progress on it.
DodgyBastard Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 In other Samara news. Lada Samara by srblythe, on Flickr I forgot to tighten the wheel nuts when I fitted the steel wheels ages ago and came close to losing a wheel before finding out I didn't have a wheel brace so had to phone a friend to help me. Supernaut Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Didn't that blue 305 have horrendous rot around one of the A pillars? I thought it was done for, but mega respect for trying to get it back on the road! I, too, would like to see it go down the 1/4 mile at Crail. I love a good old turbo XUD.

DodgyBastard Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 Where did you find that roof thing over the cab on the C15? A friend of a friend had it in storage container along with a passenger door and spare wheel. He also has a full size roof rack somewhere which I should get eventually. I've never seen one of those roof things before so thought it was worth buying at £25...
DodgyBastard Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 OK so after giving these wheels a quick coat of paint, fitting tyres and fitting them to the car I decided I didn't really like them. IMG_20160930_140355 by srblythe, on Flickr So I gave them a going over with the wire wheel, painted them and refitted the tyres. DSC_0951 by srblythe, on Flickr Then I traded them for some 205 pepperpots which were badly painted black.I gave them a quick rub down with sandpaper and used some of Aldi's finest metal paint with a spray gun. I'm still wheel-less for the 305 but I'm sure I can find something suitable, Reb is wanting the pepperpots for his 205. Coprolalia, rantingYoof and reb 3

DSC_0979 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0977 by srblythe, on Flickr I had the Mitsubishi Carisma wheels fitted to the Proton in the past so thought they might look good with a coat of paint. DSC_0986 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0987 by srblythe, on Flickr Which seemed to work quite well, obviously it needs shot blasted first but I wanted to test the silver paint I bought. DSC_0988 by srblythe, on Flickr The V5 eventually came for this so I've had a chance to use it legally on the roads. DSC_0994 by srblythe, on Flickr The suspension is quite harsh and there's a bit of a drone from the engine at 3k revs but other than that it drives well enough. I've yet to test it for carrying heavy stuff or towing but I think it will do just fine. DodgyBastard Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Is that auction available online? I'm not sure, it's definitely available by phone but why not come up to Scotland for a change? http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/SaleStock.aspx?Sale=1998 Jim Bell 1

DodgyBastard Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 The story with the E28 is while idly browsing FB I spotted a link to the Gumtree advert, I contacted the seller to see if it was still available then showed Mrs Foad who had been saving up some money to go towards a 190e that was for sale locally. We checked insurance and it was around £800 cheaper to insure the E28 so with that in mind we went for a look.It ran a bit lumpy due to an air leak or air flow meter issue, the exhaust was blowing and the diff was hanging off (the bush was completely missing) but other than that it looked fairly straight and had no rust that was a cause for concern. We ended up paying £950 for it which is the most we've spent on a car with Mot measured in weeks but for a car that we both wanted I think it was worth taking a chance on.With the arrival of the 5 series my funds are rapidly dwindling so I'm going to put 1 or 2 cars up for sale.Anyone fancy the Alto? DodgyBastard Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Today I headed over to Bavarian Retro in Hamilton where Boyd kindly donated an air flow meter for the E28, when swapping the air flow meters we noticed there were some perished parts of the air intake boot so it got plastered with tape before reassembly. 1987 Bmw 520i E28 by srblythe, on Flickr It sounded a bit smoother after starting it, the exhaust is blowing quite badly so it sounds rougher than it is. Until the diff is bolted back on I can't actually take it for a run and put fresh fuel in to see if it clears up a bit. 1987 Bmw 520i E28 by srblythe, on Flickr 1987 Bmw 520i E28 by srblythe, on Flickr I love the look of it though, even with the chrome arches which I usually hate I think it still looks great, maybe it's the colour... nacho man, Skizzer, worldofceri and 4 others 7
DodgyBastard Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Also had a look at this tonight, The exhaust had fallen off and the battery was dead so after jump starting it and clamping the exhaust back on I was amazed to see the under bonnet light actually works.
