DodgyBastard Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 That was handy, a working car arrived this afternoon. I think these are the only two decent working cars I have at the moment. I welded up a blow in the 505's exhaust last week which has now made it apparent that the wheel bearings are needing changed. To top it off the Audi A3 was making some strange noises from the tank lift pump and struggling to start so have ordered a new one along with a bunch of other parts for my ever growing collection of broken cars. DodgyBastard Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 It's better after a quick rinse and clean inside. It drives nicely enough. TrabbieRonnie, 500tops, LightBulbFun and 7 others 10
TrabbieRonnie Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 If a small enough engine, I've always thought they'd make a great first car for my youngest... he's bike mad, so something that could take an MTB/jump bike, and even roomy enough to sleep in probably! Think these ones look nicer than the frogface one that followed, too. As ever, well bought DB! 500tops 1
DodgyBastard Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 It's a 1.3 petrol but goes quite well for the size of it.
TrabbieRonnie Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 That's good to know, cheers. Sounds quite insurance-friendly. Good luck with it, not that old Toyota's need much luck!
bear-in-the-air Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Love the red carpets. You not gonna leave them in?

Datsuncog Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Nicely played on the Corolla wagon - looks a well-used but honest wee thing. Exactly the kind of thing I was looking for two months ago, but ended up with a bugeye-era liftback instead. Hopefully it'll prove reliable for as long as you need it!
DodgyBastard Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 Made a small amount of progress on the 504 welding, one bit of floor and an inner sill all welded up. I ran out of gas at the end so switched to gasless wire but it was absolute dog shit so have stopped until I get more gas tomorrow. I had a look at the Cortina, it just looks like the seal where the prop joins the box has given up. Wishful thinking is remove the prop, fish out the old seal, fit a new one and top up the oil and hope for the best. I should be picking up another gearbox tonight anyway so no drama if the simple fix doesn't work. cbowditch, rainagain, LightBulbFun and 5 others 8
DodgyBastard Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 Gas purchased this morning so I set about making a sill panel. Annoyingly the metal folder wasn't long enough for the complete section so I had to chop it in half. Welded it together. And done. Just 3 small sections to make an weld in then I can change the slave cylinder. Shite Ron, Back_For_More, rainagain and 14 others 17
DodgyBastard Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 This is taking a little bit longer than anticipated... Just one last patch and I'm done! GingerNuttz, Split_Pin, LightBulbFun and 20 others 23

Split_Pin Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 You were 2 cars behind me in the Corolla last night at about half 5 ish, I think you turned off for Torryburn.

DodgyBastard Posted May 31, 2022 Author Posted May 31, 2022 I listed my Cortina on marketplace last night for £4500. So far I've had an offer of £2000 CASH today! Someone else asking if I'd swap for a Porsche boxster... dave j 1

DodgyBastard Posted June 14, 2022 Author Posted June 14, 2022 Picked this up yesterday, it's quite a nice looking car but not sure it's really me. I might see if my dad wants it for a bit then raffle it before the end of summer. skoda_fan, Tickman, Vantman and 8 others 11
DodgyBastard Posted June 14, 2022 Author Posted June 14, 2022 Some more progress made on the old LDV Pilot. The passenger side step was in much better shape than the other side with only a couple of patches required. It's a pity the rest of the sill on this side is full of holes. artdjones, Lacquer Peel, RichardK and 14 others 17

You want to be able to squirt it down a B road but by the time you have floored it, the box has dropped down and supercharger has spun up you have to brake again. Also with the roof up you can't see out. Although that might just be the lack of stature on my part.

DodgyBastard Posted June 25, 2022 Author Posted June 25, 2022 After dealing with loads of morons that's the old bucket of shit off to a new home. Guy got the train up from London and handed £4200 over in cash. Datsuncog, CortinaDave, mercedade and 17 others 20
Split_Pin Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Finally, excellent news. There are some normal buyers out there after all. DodgyBastard and mk2_craig 2
