jonathan_dyane Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I'm not usually all that struck on BM's but that looks bloody lovely; I so would.
DodgyBastard Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 £72 for the set. Big thanks to reb for spotting them earlier at the scrapyard. Sent from my 5022X using Tapatalk KruJoe, theorganist, Squire_Dawson and 2 others 5
jonathan_dyane Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 As well as having more affordable tyres I think they look better
DodgyBastard Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 I'm happy. Just took it for a quick drive and it feels amazing. Handling is super smooth. Sent from my 5022X using Tapatalk

DodgyBastard Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 I also removed the contents of the c15 camper* DSC_0620 by srblythe, on Flickr I plan on doing it again next year after dealing with the rust and mechanicals. A more planned approach will be used especially when it comes to insulation.
cort16 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Great car but what about, you know the chrome arches?
DodgyBastard Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 Great car but what about, you know the chrome arches? Too scared to remove them. Supernaut, rantingYoof and Laseraligningfoofooflanges 3
BavarianRetro Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Mahles for £72 the set? Result. What were they on? Laseraligningfoofooflanges 1
BavarianRetro Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 In fact I've a loose one you can have as a spare if you want it.
DodgyBastard Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 Mahles for £72 the set? Result. What were they on?They were on an e28 in u pull it, they had key/cap type locking nuts on them. But they were no match for my hammer and chisel. I smashed the centre of the keyhole and they popped off. There's not much left on the car, the lights, bumpers and dash were gone and I used tin snips to cut sections from the wings for my one. Before I had got the wheels off I had asked at the counter how much they would be, I said they were 14" 5 series, had average tyres on them and were in reasonable condition. They said if they were just your average run of the mill alloy they would be £60 plus vat so I went away for tools and hoped I got the same price when I went back with the wheels. The e28 was a 2.0 auto in Royal blue. DodgyBastard Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Difficult to tell in this light but I've opted for a straight pipe in place of the rusty back box. Mot is at 9:30 tomorrow and the earliest I can get an actual silencer is 1030 at £52. I will post a video of how it sounds. Sent from my 5022X using Tapatalk
DodgyBastard Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 This week we've been welding old metal into the e28, I didn't think to take any before photos but at the bottom of one of the wings there was a rusty hole and at the top of the other wing there was a rusty hole, here are some during/after pics... DSC_0627 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0629 by srblythe, on Flickr I used tin snips to cut out the sections I needed from the scrap E28 so welding them in was much easier. DSC_0634 by srblythe, on Flickr It'll probably look ok when it gets dirtier... DSC_0642 by srblythe, on Flickr Exhaust is now welded on! DSC_0644 by srblythe, on Flickr Underseal applied underneath the wheel arch. DSC_0646 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0647 by srblythe, on Flickr Unfortunately the grey primer reacted with the paint so it will need sanded and done again tomorrow. DSC_0649 by srblythe, on Flickr The paint reaction was a bit of a bummer but starting the car up made me smile... worldofceri, captain_70s, They_all_do_that_sir and 2 others 5
cort16 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Great car. If roll tape back over on itself you won't get a hard edge when you're painting in little sections like the wing . DodgyBastard 1

The Moog Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Congrats on MOT. Is it a case of replace relay? Or will a good clean see it right?
DodgyBastard Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 Unfortunately the grey primer reacted with the paint so it will need sanded and done again tomorrow. I will get to the bottom of it eventually and get it running as good as it looks... Vince70, Coprolalia, captain_70s and 8 others 11
worldofceri Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Looks awesome in those shots. ...So you'll have to get it running awesome!
spartacus Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Wheel wobble is probably bushes in the front arms, very likely the lower ones.Seeing this is making me want to drag mine out of its hiding place, the shape is one of those that always makes me look back at it and smile whenever I walk away from it. DodgyBastard Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 You're doing that aren't you Foad...?The control arms? They will be getting replaced shortly. Its not very nice to drive at the moment. Sent from my 5022X using Tapatalk
spartacus Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 No, looking back at it!But yes, if you keep it for any significant time at all then you'll end up doing the arms.
DodgyBastard Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 No, looking back at it!But yes, if you keep it for any significant time at all then you'll end up doing the arms.Kinda, its much nicer to look at than actually drive at the moment... Sent from my 5022X using Tapatalk
