Cinquecento Spawtink won't rev. Why?

Gentle peeps, good evening.

I decided to get the Cinque out, legalise it and snag it, in prep for my daughters takeover & return to Belgie.

Part one went Ok, it's all fully legal without drama. Boring eh, a relatively rust free Fiat!

Part two Is the issue. It won't rev past 4000. Ticks over fine, emissions reasonable, drives fine around town. But stick the hoof in, and it just won't pull. Flat as a witches whatnot.

No spitting, snuffling, misfiring or anything really. Just doesn't go.

Taking the ( clean ,new) air filter out makes no difference. Changing the grey tipped plugs for new makes no change.

So, woz the prob? Pretty please....before I rip the decker to bits!

I thought that, but it's not getting hot, and it's just passed its Mot. No sign of probs and we did inspect it rigorously ( kith n kin in a foreign land etc)

Similar experience with a MAF problem on a Mondeo. No engine management light (1997 Mk1, I don't know when EMLs became the in thing) just a complete unwillingness to rev, unplug and it's fine but rattles through fuel like crazy.

Fuel filter is new.

Maf is a remote possibility, thanks. Give it a swift kicking tomoz

A kink in the fuel pipe? Blocked fuel filter? A piece of the cat has broken and is blocking the pipe? This happened to me and the car didn't get hot

I've never found the FIRE very revvy? I used to run out of patience before 5000 RPM was reached. Would go to the red line in neutral though.

Rev counter faulty  and reading slow  :-D

My cento was a 899cc and if the battery was disconnected for a while the ECU had to relearn for a while.. how far/long  has it been driven ?  Does the sportings ecu behave the same way?

It's not had a new cambelt has it? Cam timing out can show those symptoms.

Was it ok before reinstating or not known?

Rev counter .. reading slow  :-D

You may laugh, but Phil's Y10 has an ECU from an eight cylinder Ferrari and so the rev counter reads slow by 50%.
