Cheap ratchet spanners

Not sure where to put this but I thought it was a pretty good offer.

Having lost most of the skin on my knuckles recently getting the inlet manifold off a 16V Punto I thought I really need some flexi headed ratchet spanners, most online are about £50 a set, found these today at B&Q, have ordered a set to pick up tomorrow from the store:

Torq Spanner Set Product code: 05268566 Product rating 0out of 5 stars  (0)

This Torq full polished spanner set is made from chrome vanadium steel, includes 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19 mm sizes.

and with double heads meaning more sizes:

This 5-piece Torq mirror polish spanner set is made from chrome vanadium, includes 8x9, 10x11, 12x14, 13x15, 17x19 mm sizes, and is ideal for use in confined working areas.

Bought some about 7 years back from aldi for £6.99. Used regularly and never failed. Missing one now so must keep eye out for them again

The ones with the flexible heads frustrate me, you can't get a decent purchase on the bolt head without them popping off.

Got some from ALDI recently for £9, stood up to some real abuse while putting in timber stud work with big bolt in wall anchors. The ALDI spanners have identical castings to the Halfords Pro wratchet spanners at work as well

I've never had issues with tools from there and then the electric multi tool and soldering iron have been great

Went and picked up my set tonight, they are also doing most sizes except 10, 13 and 17, with a fixed ratchet head for less than two quid each!

Do you have to reserve them online to get them for the price you said?

I wouldn't recommend it! I reserved and paid for mine this morning, I needed some wood so I thought I would nip in on the way home from work. I saw the spanner set on the shelf for the same price so I put them in the trolley and went to the checkout. I showed them the receipt I was emailed after I paid for them and asked if I could just take the ones in my hand rather than wait for my proper collection time tomorrow.

This caused great confusion amongst the staff and required no less than three members of staff to figure out their solution.

My solution was I take the set in my hand and tomorrow when the set I ordered arrives at the store they say it was collected and put it on the shelf.

Their solution, I had to pay for the set I picked up today and I now have to contact customer services to cancel my original order and get a refund. No wonder B&Q are having so many problems and having to close stores!

I got the last set on display in Leven today, plus a couple of double ended brake pipe spanners for a little over £1 each, also in the sale. It all looks quite decent quality, I wonder if B&Q are trying to get a piece of the Halfords Professional action. Thanks for the tip.

I'd have said making the normal stores half the size so they can fence them off for that trade only crap then cramping the rest of the store into what's left was stupid to start with.  They have Screwfix for tradeish type stuff and anyone trade just strokes themselves silly over "Howden's" anyway.
