As long as youre not buying from a dealer or from Chris Watson, and youre only spending £400, you really cant go wrong.  Ebay, Gumtree, Autoshite, Post Office window, Next doors dead nana.  Theres a plethora of unreputable outlets just waiting to turn your cash into cars.

You're best off starting with someone thing cheap and working your way up. If I were you, I'd be looking for a small car, probably something like a Corsa. A black Corsa. A black Corsa C 1.4SRi. In Chester.

I hate to derail the thread out of sheer pedantry, but this is not strictly accurate.

 

I have a car built 18 years ago, which was first launched 24 years ago in a near-identical form, which in turn was copied almost exactly from a design launched 32 years ago. It actually drives like a 40-year-old car, just to remove any suspicion that it may have been illicitly improved in the meantime. So the cut-off date needs some +/- tolerance, I'm afraid. Or at least a change from 'built' to 'designed'. I mean, is a 1986 Mini any less crap than a 1987 Mini?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway, any fule kno that the pinnacle of car design actually occurred in the mid-90s. And that the 406 Coupe is better than anything* built after 1970. Phakt.
