Volvo V40 for sale.

Right, here we are, the official for sale ad.

Volvo V40 2.0 litre auto.

October '99 V reg.

MOT until late October.

Starts first time every time.

Excellent on fuel.

Lovely warm heater.

I won't bang on about the interior, the pics show that.

There are some imperfections in the paint, mainly on the passenger door. The chap who had it before me was a pc repair man, and he made a very hamfisted attempt at removing his company stickers.

The front offside wing is a different shade of silver, you very own 50 shades of Grey. It hasn't bothered me in the slightest.

Most of the electrics work ok, with the exception of the cruise control and rear washer.

Electric front windows only, both work fine.

No history of cambelt change, but there again, I received very little paperwork with the car, so it may have been done, but I don't know.

All tyres excellent, but different brands.

I'm sure I've missed loads out, so fire away with the q's.

I really need to make 375 for this if I'm going to stand any chance of getting myself a ratty V70.

For anybody who is looking for cheap practical family transport, these are top wagons.

I'm not sure that auto would be my choice, but everything else is bang on the recommended spec.

The cam belt lasts 96,000 miles as standard so a bit of gambling is possible. (The aux belt on mine was only replaced at 132,000 and it didn't go twang).

There should be no rust worries and if you can service brakes and give them a good clean, then that's the biggest expected bill sorted straight off.

Don't expect fireworks from the motor but my 2.0l V40 did see the high side of 120mph on a long empty test track.

I've recently had the wheels off of this, and it looks like it's had a lot of new brake parts. There's certainly no wear on the discs and the pads look like new.

I believe these are about 140 bhp. The performance certainly surprised me.

These V40's are pretty motors, aren't they? (Prettier than any V70 :D )

Have a bump mate.

Voted the most beautiful estate car at the time apparently.

Still love the V70 though.

Yes, +1 for these being good cars. I'd say the s40 got less and the v40 got more attractive as the model run went on, but this one proves me wrong. Looks like a high spec one too. Needing to swallow huge loads (in the biblical sense) and needing a car to corner as if its on rails are the only reasons not to buy one. There's a good review thread on here somewhere about the v40.

Kin 'ell man, has this not sold?

This is by no way helpful but I wish I had some space and a little more cash, I'd have had this off you by now.

Good luck with sale.

Thanks PBK and LS.

Still got it. Made offers on another couple of V70's, but greedy owners thought they could get more.

One in particular is still live on mongbay I think. Needs lower arm bushes, ball joints, work to the rear brakes, plus other stuff probably, no mot, and he wants 500 quid for it. It really is nothing special.

Made an offer on another with multiple issues, my offer was turned down, so he got less than I offered.

The one that really stands out was on Gumtree. It was a four wheel drive, an XC70 for 375 quid, in your neck of the woods PBK, 65 Kemp Rd, EN1 4QT. I made an enquiry about it. The bloke phoned me on Saturday night while I was at work, in my lorry. He said we could do a deal with my V40, I was up for that. Then he asked if I'd be alone when I came over, because I had a sexy voice. I told him I'd be with my missus, so he said 'maybe we could make her happy too'. The geezer frightened the shit out of me to be honest. I never went. I don't need a V70 that much.

The V40 is on facebook too. I used my wife's account, because I really can't be bothered with FB. I stated the price - no offers - location - my name - and phone number - text preferred as I drive for a living. I immediately started getting offers, people using my wife's name, phoning me while I'm driving etc. etc.

I'm pretty peed of with it all now tbh. This is why I tried to find a V70 via the forums. On the whole, better people to deal with, more time to collect, better all round, but nothing's materialised, so it looks like the V40 ain't going anywhere just yet.

I am so sorry mate but I am pissing myself laughing right now and it is causing me much back pain........I really hope you don't want a V70 that much. Fuck, I can hardly type for laughing so much. I have actual tears running down my cheeks. GLWTS  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

That has to be the best response to a car ad EVER.

How hard could it be. I'll rephrase that, how difficult could it be to do.

I just re-read the ad and it's a manual, so that's me well oot.

I was going to ask you if you'd have a quick gander at that one in Enfield PBK, but that was some scary phone call.

Do you know Kemp Rd, by the way?

If you were driving by at some stage........I certainly wouldn't get out of your car though.

Posted

No problem mate. I can have a gander tomorrow before work. Is it Kempe Road, or Kemp. There is a Kempe Rd, near Bullsmoor Lane, EN1.

The message I got was 65 Kemp Rd, but may he may have spelt it wrong.

Be interesting to know if there's really a car there at all.

This simply re-affirms my idea that a Volvo V70 is a swinger's car...

Had a bloke look at my V40 today. He loved it. All over it like a rash.

He hasn't got back to me.

Bugger, got 2 V70's lined up as well.

Calm down dear! :D Give him a day or two.
