Excellent update as usual 8) The Volvo 240 is a beauty, beige Ford pick-up seems slightly under-wheeled!

Great spots Heep, I'm also a fan of the non-sporting 80's Mustangs. I had several die-cast models of them when I was a wee boy!

Nice update again, it's great seeing all those big saloon cars over there, especially those with the nearly vertical rear windows.Keep it up!

Wild! Check out the wellies and santa hat - on the back of the truck is painted the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUCK" and "HUNT" is emblazened across the rear number plate spot.

This drove past but I wasn't able to get my camera out in time for a shot - but then it turned into this completely empty parking lot 200 meters down the road and parked right in the middle of it. "Well that was a freebie..."

Is it just me or the the back windows on that identical to a Royale/Monza?

Top spots Heep, my pick would be the gold LTD closely followed by the multi-coloured Valiant (?). Canada looks nice, might have to pop ovet the border when i finally make it to the States....

oh and

"Well that was a freebie..."

...Arrested Development?

Good work Heep! Hope you spot this one again soon for a closer shot, it loooks very promising:

Awesome shots heep, i have always loved american cars.Barrett, that hatchback is an Oldsmobile Firenza, and other than sharing a name with a Vauxhall, it did have other connections in the fact that it was built on the J body platform, but that makes it more related to the the Cavalier MKII than anything else by Vauxhall/Opel.I tell you what, i would love a Ford Tempo, such a shitey car on every level, like a Taurus MKI minus all the good designed bits.

Posted

Thanks! Indeed the Firenza was a short-lived J-Body...I hadn't seen one in about a decade before finding this one (which I can quite reliably re-find now).

I'd also love a Tempo - grew up despising them but rather like them now, especially early ones. I'd also love a Taurus Mk1...I'm willing to bet money they'll be collectible someday, they were the first American car with aero-styling, cup-holders, and a whole variety of other features...kinda revolutionized the American auto industry.

Multi-coloured Valiant is actually a Chevrolet Chevy II - I'm hoping to get better shots sometime, but in the meantime, one of my Flickr contacts that lives here too did get better shots of it...

Oh, and yep, Arrested Development, lol.

Balls, i used to be so good on my Yankee shite. Less enthralled now i know its a Chev, i'm a MoPar man all the way!

Nice one - that Chevy is fabulous. Always funny when you spot your spots in someone elses er, spots.

Great pics Heep - I love the 66 Dodge Polara in the November shots. There seem to be a lot of those Iacocca era K cars still running about where you are - in fact more 1980s US mid size stuff than I've seen in Michigan/Illinois/Ohio/Indiana, where it's rare to see anything FWD older than 1995.Do Canadians take better care of their cars or something? Are they more expensive to buy new than in the US?Have a good christmas :D.

A wiper to keep the "Toyota 4WD" badge dry???

Cracking spots Heep.

Marvellous photos Heep! Canada loks like its brimming with rubbish old motors. I paticularly love this one:

Posted Image

What a desperately half-arsed old shitbox, if it wasnt for the flush glazing i'd say it was some sort of 'Filby-era' kit car.

Posted

Thanks all.AnthonyG: Cars usually are a bit more expensive - new and used - here than in the U.S., but still the vast majority of cars here are 10 or less years old. I walk and drive around quite a lot and always have my camera at the ready, so I capture quite a good amount of the shite that there is...Cheggers: Lol, sounds like a brilliant idea :) Just a block heater plug though.fordpoplier: Yep, though they seem to be almost extinct already - I still see more older Festivas than I do Aspires.Mr_Bo11ox: Those old Saturns had all plastic panels so the panels may look great but probably hide all sorts of misery! Not sure how the bonnet got mangled, looks like it wouldn't release so they tried with a crowbar...

Excellent spots Heep, thanks for sharing.I'm rather liking the Post truck myself. Whats the early '70's looking pickup as well?

The maroon one is a GMC Caballero, a GMC badge on a Chevrolet El Camino. It would be a 1978-87 one, (the styling updates were all done at the front). Only this last generation got a GMC cousin, the earlier ones were all Chevys.Earl drives an earlier El Camino- a 73 or 74 I think- in 'My Name is Earl'.They are a popular classic choice in the US, and many have been preserved :) .

Great spots as usual. That gold Saturn thingy is very cool. Looks like a Nissan 300ZX estate!

I love that RX7, dont usually like yellow cars but that is a winner.I cant decide if I prefer the Euro/Japanese market or USA/Canada Accords more. But anyway, nice spots as per! I love that Ford F series (?) pickup, proper pick up that is.

WTF is the plug for?

Engine block heater, plug it in overnight and it'll keep the oil from turning to sludge so you can get the thing started when it's -20C out in the morning...
