If it helps any Chris, I actually do like the look of the Sebring/Stratus thing. I may well be in a minority but for 90s Merkin stuff I reckon they look GR14.

I had one as part of a fly drive in 2008, 2.4 drank fuel, very slow, a bit wallowing but comfortable with it. Interior looked somewhat flimsy but that's modernish American cars, built to a price as everyone is brainwashed into wanting the new 2017 phlegm xl etc.

The youngest I have driven is 2004, much the same as 1996, a few more bhp that was welcome. The bit I find strange is this forum champions unloved cars but have we found one for universal hate! I want one even more.....

Likewise, I'd happy cruise around in a solid roofed one just to give the Top Gear fans something to sneer at. They were quite popular in Switzerland, which tells you all you need to know.

 

Canvas roofs (on any car since Prohibition started) are against my personal religion though so you're on your own with that.

I think I essentially said it was a good candidate for AS. A bit wobbly but comfy, thirsty so ideal for a ruinous hobby like shitism.

Discs seem to be service items nowadays - change with pads each time. They don't make 'em like they used to, I suspect that modern pads are more abrasive since removal of asbestos.

Floppytops only leak if you leave them outdoors when it rains - solution: don't.

I have to say I do like that but fear it will be quite expensive and my friend from the BMW club says it is going to sort my 3.0 S Saloon so I can have it back in the spring.

So you can jeer and laugh at me come this time next year I am going to confess to all the Project cars that are going to be worked on 2017. The aim is all these cars should be MOTed and useable by the end of 2017, but I am not that fussy about paint work.

 

1984 MG Metro - all welding done engine refitted 2016, now needs wings fitted and MOT stuff like Brakes etc. The garage who have it plan to give it back in the spring MOTed so I can use it for the summer, then I will get it painted next winter.

 

1974 Peugeot 504 Cabriolet – it has been painted and is currently in a trim shop in Witney where it has been for nearly 3 years waiting leather repairs, hood and carpets. It was made to run but because the Kugelfischer injection that does not like sitting about probably will need work again and then the usual MOT stuff. I am going to ask that they get it done so I can have it back for easter and then I have exhaust brakes MOT still to do!

 

1983 Citroen LNA Inca – well under way now with working engine, still all the MOT stuff to do, but the car is in the open and the Mech is reluctant to do any more while it is cold and wet.

 

1983 Citroen Visa GT – I have bought sills and a local welder (non car) has agreed to do the welding work for me

 

1985 Range Rover 3.5 4 door – The garage that originally took this on closed down and it was sent to another garage who did very little. Then another garage started the work and stopped. Currently it is waiting for somebody to take it on, I don’t really know what is needed and have not seen it for years. I will push in the spring for it back but it is no good to me without an MOT.

 

1983 Alfa Giulietta 2.0 saloon – It should be under way by now, starting with my friend sorting the bodywork for me in my home garage but a couple of rust spots on the Bi-turbo have turned into a marathon.

 

1968 Triumph Spitfire Mk3 fitted with 2.5 LTR engine – We got it running in September at the Field of dreams open day, I took the fuel tank out because it was full of crud and now the tank sits in my garage. Still needs all MOT stuff. Again it is sat in the open and is unattractive to work on.

 

1971 BMW 3.0S saloon – poor starting, poor running and sticky brakes, a friend from the BMW club has had this for the last year or so and says he will return it sorted in the spring!

 

 

Then there is the smaller stuff like the Heater matrix has gone in my 1995 Audi Convertible, 1999 Volvo V70 T5 immobilizer fault, 2nd 1990 Volvo 740GLE non starter in Wales, 1976 Sovereign stripped adaptor for oil sender, 1973 Sovereign showing high engine temp, etc

 

And the usual round of MOTs, 27 currently MOTed cars to keep on the road.

 

Looks like it is going to be a busy Car year for me 2017!

The coupe version of the Peugeot is, I think, even more lovely.  Pininfarina at his best.  I lust for one of these with a six cylinder engine.

Not a great engine that Volvo/Peugeot V6, asthmatic, slow and thirsty until Volvo updated it at in Oct 1987. On the other hand the Kugelfischer on the fours was always a problem, mine had hot start issues before I bought it. So I would say take which ever comes along!

 

Yes the couples look lovely.

The colour of that coupe is similar to my cx Pallas- Neptune grey and one of the main reasons I bought it. It looked sublime.

My convertible is Storm grey, a later 505 colour but I think it suits the car very well and the car has been that way for some years before I bought it.

My friend Steve who has the Lancia Gamma also has this white S3 XJ6 and we thought it would be fun do a compare and contrast photo session with our S1, S2 and his S3.

 

Our drive is so crowded we thought we might take all 3 cars to a car park 1/2 miles from our house, problem is S2 has striped threads in the oil pressure sender adaptor so I thought I would give it a go. A bit of leakage for 1/2 mile would be ok, but no it blew the sender out and pumped oil everywhere. Just to add to the problem the automatic choke does not work so after I got it going on easy start I stayed in the car to keep it running and did not notice all the oil pouring out!

Hey, I didn't know you had a 504C! My 404 is now ready to collect so hopefully that'll be back in the UK and on the road by the end of February

I have had mine nearly 8 years and I have decided that 2017 will be the year it returns to the road!
