Xantia Replacement - RESOLVED

Deeper dish/larger diameter steering wheel, different seats, pedals that are further away... these are all things that might help.  Weirdly, diddy French cars normally fit quite well but the offset pedals annoy me.

You're buggered in this car then! Two of those three things you can do nowt about.

Have you considered hiring a chauffeur for the times you need to go in the car?

Try doing 10 minutes of proper stretching every day. It's probably down to posture and the way you sit. It'll help massively.

Sounds like a few decent sessions with a good physio would probably be more beneficial than swapping seats round at the moment.

Hope you get it sorted chronic back issues make even the simplest task unpleasant.

If the steering wheel telescopes towards you, get it to maximum reach and adjust the seat until you can use the pedals comfortably. I don't think it's a seat problem, but a position problem.

Everything that needs to be said and suggested has been now, I think, we should put this to bed.

Long and short of it is that I have back issues regardless of the fact I look after posture and health as directed by medical bods over the years, can't do much about your genes and I have a car that exacerbates the propensity for injury on long distance non-stop drives.

Solution is to try out some different front seats and to take regular breaks on any future long-distance trips.

No matter how good a car is, if it's painful to drive then it's useless.

p.s. I know the steering wheel adjusts, but up and down rather than back and forth.  Doesn't really help.

Quite right. Let us know how the new seats fit you when they are in

Sell xantia, bowl around in nugget for a bit, fix up Princess with xantia money then drive Princess?

I know another Princess owner with back/spinal problems who swears by his Princess for offering the best ride quality out of all his various cars, including a modern Jag X type. Get it back on the road!

She'll get done.  I can't work as quickly as I'd like on her but I am getting there.  I might not be able to do the welding at the moment but I can do the engine, brakes and suspension while I try and earn the funds to pay for everything else that's going out.  Self-employment is great for having flexible working time but really rubbish for a reliably regular income.
