Guest Breadvan72
The steering rack is OK at anything above parking speed. The replacement rack is in the boot. The brakes are much better than they were, and the Pirellis have transformed the grip.
catsinthewelder
Yes pliz! Xxx I'm driving around Birmingham most weeks so should be able to pick the doors up. If it's going to Will it would probably make more sense to drop them off up there as I'm driving up to Durham on the 27th via the M62. I'm not sure what I'll be driving though, I've been offered a Tourneo to use but if it goes out on a last minute booking I'll be in the Cherry. That said it probably won't be that long till I'm heading north again.
barefoot
SFQ - but if it's twin cam, is it 16 valve? Is it as flat as a fart and then unbelieveably revvy?I knew nothing about valves back in 78.Or it would appear, when I saw it at shitefest and asked all the rong kwestionz. explosive-cabbage
John F
ACE. I'm chuffed to bits that this sexy Italian beast is coming north. I'll have to call by & drool over it when it arrives (OK, perhaps not directly over it as the extra moisture might kill off any remaining metalwork) KruJoe and explosive-cabbage

It'll be 8-valve, I think - the Italian tax laws encouraged high-performance sexy small engines, and going twin cam but 8 valves was a cheap way of being sexy. cms206
Guest Breadvan72
8 valve. Peak power at about 5500, and needs to be revved a lot to make it go, but 1970s Italian 1300s can feel as fast as other people's 1970s 1600s. M'coli

dollywobbler
I loved the fact that when I drove this car, it took me in circles I had no intention of taking. Top purchase.

Guest Breadvan72
Let me know whether to get the doors to my place or leave them at Brum.
Sudsprint
8 valve. My single cam 1300cc Fiat 128 3Ps just flew along (10.3secs to sixty in 1976 was pretty quick then)
explosive-cabbage
Will the doors fit inside the car if we lay the seats down? Or is it a seperate trip?
Guest Breadvan72
I very much doubt that they would go in. You would need an estate car, SUV, van or trailer.
John F
Mattress on roof, then a door, then another mattress, then the other door. Tie the whole lot on with hairy yellow string... sorted KruJoe
KruJoe
Don't forget we have one of those inflatable roof rack things somewhere Will. Alternatively, you could cut the frames off the new doors and roughly fit the bottom halves for the drive home, and leave the rusting remains of the old ones as mementos on Breadvan's garage wall. Guest Breadvan72
That could be done, as the frames are Spider frames.
explosive-cabbage
Where there is a Will there is a way. Might be best leaving them in Brum for now till someone in the Autoshite delivery system can bring them closer. Its a shorter trim to Brum then Oxfordshire if I need to go down and get them too. Thanks!
Guest Breadvan72
The doors have been at my mum and dad's for months and can stay there. I will check them for rust when I am there over Xmas, and spray some oil on them. They are covered so that roving scrappies don't blag them. They are red, BTW.
